Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATARZYNA (KATARYNA) KAPELUCH February 6, 1924 September 26, 2012 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, babcia and sister. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loving children at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Kataryna was born in Wola Matyszowa, Lemkivshchyna, where she also attended school. Day to day life during the years of the Second World War was very difficult for Kataryna and her family. In 1947, Akcja Wisla displaced her family to Ziemie Odzyskane, what is now North-Western Poland. In 1951 Kataryna married Andriy Kapeluch who she shared her life with for 58 years. They raised three children and worked on the family farm, while Andriy worked on the railway. In 1991 Kataryna and Andriy immigrated to Canada to join their children. After settling in Winnipeg, Karatyna began working at Shaarey Zedek Cemetery until her stroke in 1997. After recovering from her illness, she regularly attended the Adult Day Program at Holy Family Home which she very much enjoyed and rarely missed. Thank you to the staff of the ADP who made this possible. Family was very important to Mom. She was a devoted wife, mother and babcia. She loved her family unconditionally. Mom always made us and everyone else that she came in contact with feel extra special. She was very caring, giving and hard working. Mom always saw the beauty in nature and loved the outdoors, including mushroom and blueberry picking. She also enjoyed: cooking, singing, reading, watching TV and socializing with her friends and visiting with grandchildren and her great-grand son. Kataryna was predeceased by her husband Andriy; sisters Olia and Maria; brothers Philip, Ivan and Vasyl and daughter-in-law Ivona. Kataryna leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: sons Michael (Bozena) and Bohdan; daughter Halina; grandchildren Kasia, Emilka (Scott), Zbyszek, Ania (Jay), Mike (Robyn) and Nick; great-grandson Janek; sister Anna Grember in France and brother Mike Madejczyk; sisters-in-law Fenna Madejczyk (Mike) and Justyna Hryndzio (Volodymir); nieces and nephews in Canada, France and Poland, and many friends including those at the Ivan Franko Manor. A large thank you to Dr. Moncek and the nursing staff at the Seven Oaks Hospital of the fifth floor Unit 3 for their care and attention. All services will be held at The Metropolitan Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of Sts. Vladimir and Olga at 115 McGregor St, Rt. Rev Msgr. Mitrat Michael J. Buyachok officiating.
