FERDINAND M HOFTEIG It is with deep sadness that we announce Ferd's passing from Deer Lodge Centre September 23, 2012. Thank you to the staff of T6 that cared for him. He was predeceased by his wife Erica (Hallson), father Stefan, mother Thora Margret (Benediktsson), and siblings Sylvia, Tavia, Louise, Margaret, Steve, Halldor, and Bjorn. He leaves to mourn him daughter Karen (Darryl), son Donald (Karin), son Robert (Brenda), grandchildren Shelley (Rodney), Derek, and Kristin, great-grandchildren Brendan, Cameron, and Erin, also many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ferd was born at Glenella, MB March 10, 1926. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy 1944 to 1946. He met Erica in Winnipeg in 1946 and they were married in 1948. He loved her deeply and he was so happy that she became his wife and lifelong companion. They made their home in many places, Atikokan, Lundar, Ear Falls, Kelowna and more. Ferd worked in the electrical trade, mining and dredging, and on Dewline. He had his own electrical and refrigeration business in Ear Falls. Ferd was given a lifetime membership by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 238, in honour of his services to them. After Mom passed, he went on a cruise, and went to visit family and friends often. He travelled to Iceland with his sister Margaret and nephew John. He was so proud of his Icelandic heritage. Ferd was such a kind and gentle man, people (and animals) were drawn to him. He will be missed. Donations in Ferd's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Funeral Services will be at Ear Falls Legion, at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, with Rev.
