ALLENE DORIS WOODFIELD It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Allene Doris Woodfield on Monday, September 24, 2012, in her 85th year. A beautiful and elegant lady has left us. Allene was a loving and devoted wife of 60 years, mother and grandmother. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Lenore Konrad (Randy), grandchildren Lauren and Jordan (Ashley), nieces and nephews and many dear friends who will always remember her great sense of humour and positive love of life. She was predeceased by husband Gordon, son Graig, parents Garnetta and George Mitchell and brother Gordon. Allene was born in Winnipeg on June 18, 1927. Attending Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Allene excelled in sports including track and field and basketball. Her love of sports continued throughout her life. She was an active member of the Winnipeg Canoe Club, the St. Vital Curling Club, and the Nanaimo Golf and Country Club. Allene was the quintessential fan when it came to football and hockey. She also had a passion for bridge, sitting in a game at every opportunity. Mom's greatest pleasures in life came from spending time with family and friends at their summer home at Star Lake where Mom loved to visit and entertain. Allene was known for her infectious laugh that would make you smile just hearing it. She was an incredible mother and grandmother who's greatest source of pride and joy were her two grandchildren who loved her as Nana. Allene and Gordon moved to Nanaimo, B.C. in 1980 to pursue career interests and happily retired there. Allene returned to Winnipeg in 2011, to spend closer joys with family. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. James Johnson and Erin Streu of CancerCare Manitoba and Dr. Florin Padeanu for the compassion, dedication and support they gave to Mom during her short and sudden illness. In keeping with Mom's wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will take place on Friday, November 2 at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Boniface Golf Club at 100 Youville in St. Boniface. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or the charity of your choice. Mom, forever in our hearts, always loved and always with us.

Lenore and family. I was very saddened to read of your Mom's passing. I golfed in the nine hole women's league as well as a weekly foursome with her. She was a lovely lady, always positive and encouraging. She will be missed. - Posted by: Darlene McKee (Friend) on: Sep 29, 2012
