GUERRINO (GERRY) PERINOT January 26, 1941 - September 26, 2012 With profound sadness, we announce that Gerry passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre after a two year battle with cancer. He was beloved by his wife Karen and daughters Vanessa and Ronda. Gerry was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and oldest sister. Left to mourn his passing are his sister Maria (Luciano) of Italy, brothers-in-law Anthony (Janet) of Delta, B.C., and Leigh (Carol) of Mississauga, ON, sisters-in-law Ann (Eric, deceased) of Burlington, ON, and Matilde (Mario, deceased) of Sudbury, ON. Also left to mourn are numerous nieces and nephews, godchildren, and extended family and friends in Canada and Italy. Gerry was born in Conegliano, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1958, and was a proud Canadian citizen. A steamfitter/pipefitter by trade, he worked in construction for many years. He also worked in the hospitality industry and, while employed at the Banff Springs Hotel, met and married his wife of 48 years. From 1977 to 2000 he served as the MaƮtre D' at the Manitoba Club. Prior to his retirement, Gerry worked as an assistant at E.J. Coutu Funeral Directors. Gerry cherished the company of his dog, Katie, and their years spent at St. Vital Park with their park buddies. He loved to garden, putter in his yard, and play cards in his gazebo. Cremation and a private family service at St. Vital Cemetery have taken place. Thank you to E.J. Coutu Funeral Directors (Edward Sr., Edward Jr., and staff) for their many kindnesses and support over the years and the arrangements made on Gerry's behalf. We would also like to thank everyone who called, visited and sent cards to cheer Gerry during his illness. May he rest in peace. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I met and worked with Guerrino shortly after he came to Winnipeg, from Italy. He was such a wonderful young man and grew to become a wonderful senior. Loved his family dearly and his friends. I didn't see him often but now I am sure going to miss him. Rest In Peace Guerrino and watch over us all. - Posted by: Rosalie Larcombe (friend) on: Oct 12, 2012

  • I remember Jerry with fondness from my years at the club - he was a pleasure to work with even when he was cantankerous (usually for good reason) - Posted by: jim partridge (fellow employee at Manitoba Club) on: Sep 29, 2012

  • I was sorry to see the note of Gerry's death in the Free Press. Over the many years of his service to the members of The Manitoba Club Gerry made many friends among those members, including our father, Rod Goodwin. My sister and I have always appreciated this service to our late father and wish to express our very sincere condolences to the members of his family on their present loss.
