Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS MATHESON With great sadness and love, Edna Matheson announces the passing of her husband, Thomas Matheson of Selkirk, MB on Friday, September 28, 2012. Tom was predeceased by his parents Hugh and Marion of Moosehorn, MB, his brother Angus, sisters Margaret Krentz and Mary (Mae) Kozak, and his first wife, Shirley (Jardine), mother of his six children. He leaves his children Melanie, Joanne (Kelvin), Tamsen (Ted), Shaun (Allan), Thomas (Joanne) and Warren (Crystal), 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. As well as his immediate family Tom leaves his close friend and nephew Buddy Krentz, with whom he spent many great summers in Moosehorn, his sister Helen Krentz and a host of nieces, nephews, step-nieces and nephews, their children and grandchildren. Tom made many great friends around the world. He lived life with laughter and exuberance, working many years with the provincial and federal governments. He was exacting in his career, his proudest accomplishment being the building of the first six miles of the TransCanada Highway at Rogers Pass. He was a proud Mason and Shriner, and loved chauffeuring VIPs in his white 61 Caddy convertible. He will also be missed by the out-of-bounds markers on the eighth hole of the Selkirk Golf and Country Club. By sharing his experiences with everyone he met, Tom enriched their lives, as do all great storytellers. A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held on Wednesday, October 3 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, MB.
