ELEANOR MCINTOSH On September 27, 2012, Frances Eleanor McIntosh (nee Pattinson) passed away quietly at the Westman Nursing Home in Virden after a brief illness. Eleanor was born December 11, 1925, in Gladstone and attended school there, graduating from grade 12 in 1944. In January 1945 she entered the Winnipeg General Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1948. From there she worked at the hospital in Gladstone, then as a Public Health Nurse in the Ethelbert, MB. In fall 1950, she entered the University of Manitoba Public Health Nursing Course, graduating in May 1951. She worked at the Neepawa Health Unit at Glenella, MB. In 1956 she moved to Virden as Senior Nurse. In April 1959, she and John were married at St. James Anglican Church in Neepawa. She lived in Virden for the remainder of her life. She was an active member of the St. Mary's Anglican Church. She kept busy through Mardi Club, Vestry and being a Lay Reader. She served on Virden Pioneer Home Museum Board. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2001 and her parents, W. L. Pattinson and G.E. Saddington. She is survived by her stepdaughter Wendy Muc of Surrey, B.C.; and four children Grant (Yvonne) of Quebec City; Dan (Yvonne) of Virden; Craig (Lorraine) of East St. Paul.; and Joan (Hank Nyman) of Springstein as well as 13 grandchildren: Chris (Tara) , Shaun and Scott Muc; Jason and Emily McIntosh; Jessica, Brittany, Brooke and Jaden McIntosh; Kaitlyn and Thomas McIntosh; and Logan and Bethany Nyman. Her great-grandchildren are Alex, Lucas, Nicholas and Cohen. Eleanor is also survived by her sister Grace (the late Ted) Hay of Winnipeg, and her brothers Ted (Joan) Pattinson of Calgary and Bill (Rae) Pattinson of Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Mary's Anglican Church in Virden, Manitoba, would be appreciated. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Church in Virden with Rev. Don Berhardt assisted by Dr. Rev. Tom Wilson from Paisley Scotland. The family want to thank the caring staff of the Westman Nursing home. A reception will follow in the Virden Legion Hall. Interment will occur at a later time.
