Dear Britanny, it is with heavy hearts that our household sends condolences to yours on the your mother's passing. Meeting Brenda the first time felt like meeting a longtime friend. Her gorgeous smile, generosity, caring and warm-heartedness were only a few of the qualities with which she welcomed my family into her beautiful home. To John, Justin, Kyle and Britanny, we share your loss. Britanny, thank you for sharing your mom with all your friends and their families. We will miss Brenda however; her memories remain with us through you and the beautiful stain glass vase/ candle holder gift she brought to our barbeque in 2005. John, as we get older and families take precedence in our lives, your friends are still there, but not seen or heard from, sometimes for years at a time. I know it's been a long time since we have seen each other, but rest assured you are in our thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Paul Ferguson (friend) on: Oct 04, 2012

Although I only had the pleasure of being a student of Mrs. Mitchell’s for one year, I am grateful to her for making my transition to high school a comfortable one thanks to the unconditional warmth and kindness she showed me during that troubling first year. Her encouragement gave a nervous grade nine student the confidence to be proud in her ideas and to voice them without restraint. I will always remember her generosity. Thank you Mrs. Mitchell - Posted by: K. Erickson (Former Student) on: Oct 03, 2012

You are just away, when death walks by with quiet tread to touch a loved one who' led away from sleep, away from pain to wake in joy to live again. You'll hear her on a whispered breeze, a calling bird, do not weep long but lift your eyes you'll see her glory in God's skies. She'll be there in a swallow's flight, Her eyes in stars on a velvet night. Her courage strong, she's just away for death is nought when love is true. My cuz be happy in heaven you are at peace R.I.P. love to all God bless you all. - Posted by: Cheryl Lee Samuel (cousin) on: Oct 03, 2012

Although it's difficult today to see beyond the sorrow, may looking back in memory help comfort you tomorrow. If I only knew I would love to hug you one more time and if I only knew we were about to lose your smile, we would cherish those moments for a very long time. Words cannot express how I felt on hearing of your passing. To the family members my prayers and thoughts are with you all. My fond memories with Brenda will always remain with me. GONE TOO SOON. Mrs. Mitchell was one of my favorite teachers during high school. She eased the transition from high school to university for her students. She was always encouraging and truly cared about her students. I had the privilege of being her student both in grade nine and grade twelve. I will never forget her and the lessons she taught me. She will be greatly missed. My condolences to her family. - Posted by: Adriana Mingo (Former Student) on: Oct 03, 2012

I remember the fun John, Brenda and I had working together at VIA Rail. Brenda always had a big smile and John would answer back with a goofy grin. My life was enriched by my friendship with Brenda. I often looked forward to sharing a cup of tea with her to debrief the day in her classroom across the hall from mine. Her integrity as a passionate teacher who cared so deeply about her students was a constant inspiration to me. Her face always took on a special glow when she spoke lovingly about her children and other family members. It was also apparent that the deep love she shared with John, her husband, was rare. May all the members of her family be comforted knowing that they were loved by a beautiful woman and that she in turn knew she was loved by them. - Posted by: Marlene Schellenberg (Colleague and friend) on: Oct 03, 2012

So sorry for you loss. We didn't know Brenda was sick. I still have very fond memories of the old days when we were all newly married and would have our monthly gourmet club. Such fun.
