BARBARA JOAN MCLEAN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Joan McLean (Joanie Sigurdson), 64, of Winnipeg MB on the evening of Tuesday, October 2, 2012 after a long struggle with Emphysema. She was surrounded by many loved ones at the Victoria Hospital. Joanie was born in Gimli and grew up in Geysir, MB, where she went to school and helped out on the family farm. As a young adult she travelled to Thompson where she met her husband of 43 years. They relocated twice, once to Arborg and finally to Winnipeg in 1984. She worked as a waitress for 40 years, and was an incredibly creative woman who took pride in her beautiful flower gardens, decorating and crocheting. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who always put her family first in her life. She will be immeasurably missed. She is survived by her mother of 92 years Doris Gibson; her husband, David McLean; her children Leslie (Tim), Brenda (Eric), Robbie, and Sheila (Dwayne); and her nine grand-children; also her nine siblings, Shirley Mayor, John Sigurdson, Reggie Sigurdson, Irene Anderson, Frankie Sigurdson, Linda Jones, Kathy Gamberg, Jeffrey Sigurdson, and Ronald Sigurdson. She was predeceased by her father, Sigurjon Sigurdson. A private burial will be held at Geysir Cemetery; a "Celebration of Life" luncheon will take place at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, October 6 at the Arborg Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Manitoba Lung Association.
