CARROLL LOUISE NORQUAY On Thursday, October 4, 2012 Carroll Louise Norquay peacefully drew her last breath and entered into her reward in heaven. For the last number of years, Louise has been preparing herself for this day when she would meet her maker, and we are grateful that there was much mercy, and Louise went quickly. Born on December 1, 1929 in , Louise's life was full of simple adventure. The family moved Saskatoonto Selkirk in 1935 when mom was six years old and later Mom resided in Winnipeg where she made many friends. The stories she shared of her siblings, friends and family have brought many memories to those she loved. Louise was predeceased by her husband Thomas Norquay, her parents Karl and Isabelle Karlenzig sister Ruth Pullen and brother Ken Karlenzig. There are many who cherish the memory of Louise and carry on her deep legacy of love. Her sons, Craig (Debbie), Randy and Laurie (Diane). Nana also leaves behind her grandchildren, David, Lindsay (David), Daniel (Chelsey), Michele (Justin), Gordon (Jenna), Megan (Armin), Caitlyn and Joel and her great- grandchildren, Mikayla and Caden, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. As well, her sisters Jean (John) Brownell of BC and Marge Creasy of Saskatoon, Sister-in-law Mina Karlenzig and brother-in-law Bob Pullen. Louise was so gifted with her hands and spent endless hours knitting, crocheting, and doing beautiful needlework. She absolutely made the best dinners and really enjoyed pouring her love for her kids into a meal. Mom's hands, though worn and crooked over the years, were the most beautiful. Mom's love for music was extraordinary and she could lose herself for hours listening to good music. She liked it loud and it had to have a good beat. She always said she would be a drummer up in heaven. Louise was no ordinary woman. She loved extravagantly and everyone who met her was quickly charmed by her grace, elegance and poise. She made a statement whenever she entered a room and she carried a sense of confidence that attracted people to her. She became Nana to everyone that met her at Springs Church and it became a favourite place for her to go. The people there were family to her and we are so grateful for the love, admiration and respect that was so generously poured into Louise and shaped the woman she was. Louise's faith was the foundation of her life and getting through the sometimes stormy times in life was only possible because of her deep devotion to her relationship with Jesus Christ. She prayed relentlessly for her family for whom she had an unwavering, uncompromising and unconditional love. Family was everything to Louise, and she gained so much strength knowing that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren loved and honoured her. She always wanted to look her best and would be horrified if anyone caught her not looking well put together. Nana's quick wit and sense of humour left a lasting impression and brought many smiles. Honourary pallbearers for her special celebration are long time friends Dennis Green, Dave Broadfoot, Gil Cornelson, Tim Heppner, Jeff Romas and Lewis Vansteenkiste. Thank you for making Mom always feel cherished and special. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at Springs Church, 725 Lagimodiere Blvd. Winnipeg, MB on Tuesday October 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Leon Fontaine officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honour of Louise to Springs Church 725 Lagimodiere Blvd. R2J 0T8 The family wishes to make special mention and thank the nurses and staff who so graciously cared for Mom at both Concordia Hospital and Donwood Personal Care Home. Nana never said the words "good-bye" but rather bye for now . Our dearest Mama, Nana and friend, we now echo your sentiments. This is not good bye, but rather "bye for now". Until we meet again, we will carry you with us. Arrangements entrusted to: Rock Fontaine Funeral Director Honour-Respect- Dignity In Wpg 223-2576 or toll free 1(866)499-2601

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My auntie Louise was the sister of my mom who passed away Mar 27, 2000. They looked so much alike! The picture of Auntie Lou graduating reminded me so much of mom. When Auntie Lou laughed, it filled the room with God's love and sunshine. Auntie Lou was a VERY classy lady. She always reminded me of Elizabeth Taylor, always looking her absolute best, smiling and laughing and when she walked by you, you noticed her with admiration. Back in the late 70's, Auntie Louise wore the most beautiful perfume, Jungle Gardenia. I still wear Gardenia and always think of Auntie Lou when I wear it. I am so very sad she is gone and will always cherish my memories with her. She and mom are smiling down on all of us and protecting us. Craig, Randy and Lorie, my prayers are with you and I hope we meet soon. Love Cousin Robyne ... xoxo - Posted by: Robyne PULLEN (niece) on: Oct 14, 2012

  • Louise was a very cherished part of my life for a number of years. Even though we hadn't seen each other in many years, she was always in my heart. The times we spent together were such a blessing. I still have outfits and a doll that she knit for our two oldest children. She was a very classy and loving woman who will be very happy to be with our Lord but very much missed here on earth. Thank you to her sons for sharing her with me and my family. You will always be in my heart, too. - Posted by: Susan Gooden (Step daughter) on: Oct 06, 2012
