LORI KUHNLE Lori Dawn Kuhnle (nee Birnie) passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Victoria General Hospital on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the age of 51. Lori was predeceased by her father Keith Birnie, stepfather Murray Cawston, and sister Leslie Birnie. She is survived by her daughter, Angela Kuhnle, her mother, Lorna Cawston, her brother Glen Birnie (Tammy Levandoski), and stepdaughter Sherri (Travis) Miller. Lori was born in Neepawa, MB, on September 18, 1961. At the age of nine Lori and her family moved to Kelwood, MB. This was where she discovered her love of horseback riding, an activity she often shared with her stepfather. She also loved many sports, especially figure skating, which she went on to teach in her community. After high school, Lori moved to Winnipeg to pursue post-secondary education. She found her calling working with the residents of St. Amant Centre. In 1985, Lori married Gregg Kuhnle and together they had one child, Angela, born in 1991. The last 25 years of Lori's life were filled with health struggles but despite continuous pain, Lori fought to be there to watch Angela grow up. Her strength, courage and perseverance were admired by all who knew her. Although her passing is a sad reality for her family and friends, it comes with a sense of relief knowing that the pain is over and she can finally be at peace. There will be a memorial service held in Winnipeg at the Fort Garry EMC, 602 Pasadena Ave., on Monday, October 15, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Kelwood United Church in Kelwood, MB, on October 20, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Amant Foundation, 440 River Road Winnipeg, MB R2M 3Z9, C/o Sister Rita Desrosiers/Pastoral Care.
