Date of Passing: Oct 06, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELENE MARIE ROSE LITTLE (nee CHAMBERLAND) After a two-year battle with cancer, we regret to inform you of the passing of Helene Marie Rose Little (nee Chamberland) of Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 6, 2012 at the age of 80 at St. Boniface Hospital, palliative care unit. Mom was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Jeanne, her husband Ross, brothers Tony, Allan and Victor, grandson Joey and son-in-law Jerry. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sandy, Bob (Janet), Bill (Lucille), Brenda, Karen (Jeff) and Kim (Dennis). She also leaves behind nine siblings, Anita, Rodolph (Gladys), Liliane, Leo (Martha), Annette, Florence (Ron), Charles (Mariann), Edouard (Jackie) and Daniel. Helene also leaves behind in-laws Charlie, Irene, Blanche and Esther along with 18 grandchildren: Ron, Cheri, Bobby, Amanda, Tanya, Trish, Tom, Terri, Christie, James, Donny, Jeremy, Bill, Jessica (Greg), Jackie, Joshua and Justin and 13 great-grandchildren. Helene was born November 9, 1931 in St. Genevive, Manitoba. She married Ross in 1949 in Winnipeg and had her first child Sandy in 1950 during the Winnipeg flood. Shortly afterwards, Helene and Ross moved to Northern Ontario to raise their family of six children. She lived in Virginiatown, Dobie and Larder Lake Ontario. Helene spent about 30 years of her life in Ontario and loved every minute of it. She worked in the Annex in Kirkland Lake along with her daughter Brenda as a nurse. In 1979, Helene, Ross and the family moved back to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Helene began to work full time first at Silpit as a seamstress making winter coats and then as a LPN for Holy Family Nursing Home. Mom retired in 1990 to take care of her husband. She had the kindest heart and was always the first to help out with anything. She was a firm believer in the resurrection hope as indicated at John 5:28 and 29. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses for over 60 years, she took every opportunity to tell people of this wonderful hope. Helene was always found at meetings at the Kingdom Hall and regularly out in the ministry. She had the pioneer spirit and put many hours in service, especially after her husband passed away. Helene could make friends easily with her smile and her personality that always lit up the room. Many say that when they close their eyes and think of Helene, the first thing they see is her smiling face. Music was a big part of her family and one of her favourite songs was Burning Memories . While working around the house, she would hum or sing this song to herself many times. Well Helene, your memories are lasting and we have nothing to burn. The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of the St. Boniface Palliative Care unit. Your patience and kindness toward her and our family was appreciated beyond words. A big thank you to the many visitors she received; this meant very much to both her and the family. One of the last things that she said to us was this is not good-bye, just good night... Mom, we will truly miss you. A void is left in our hearts. We are looking forward to seeing you again in Jehovah's new order. Enjoy your sleep because it won't be very long! A viewing will take place Thursday, October 11 from 6:30 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 937 Gateway Road, Winnipeg, MB. 204-586-8044

Aunt Helene.... you were one in a million. I have very fond memories of you and I too will close my eyes and see that smile of yours. You had many, many words of advice and I appreciate each and every one. I am so sorry that I hadn't heard of your passing or I too would have been there to say farewell. Rest in peace Aunt Helene. I will remember you always. Diane - Posted by: Diane Houston (Niece (Daughter of Iris Jeppesen)) on: Feb 15, 2014

We have known this dear lady for a number of years and have always been inspired by her strength, conviction and kindness. She was very dedicated to her God, Jehovah and was happy to encourage others with her bible. She always had a smile and a hug. We wish her family peace that only Jehovah can provide and send you our deepest sympathy. - Posted by: Frank and Donene Sawatzky (friends) on: Oct 23, 2012

My wife and I really got to know Helene a few years back. She became a friend quickly. She shared so many upbuilding experiences so much so that we often left more encouraged by her when we trying to go to encourage her. I had the privilege of hearing how much support she received over the decades from Jehovah and his loving organization. Soon she will see another blessing from her loving heavenly father, the gift of the promised resurrection. He will call, and she will answer. - Posted by: Terry Wilson (Friend) on: Oct 11, 2012

Aunt Helen took me to my swimming lessons in Larder Lake when I was quite young. We both attended Northern College Of Applied Arts & Technology where Aunt Helen graduated as an administrative secretary after a full year of study. She often mentioned how uncle Ross helped her with homework assignments. That was during the years of 78 & 79. I would often stay in her home through the years. One time that comes to mind was when it was bedtime & I didn't want to go to bed yet. She said come on downstairs! I was so happy to enjoy a cucumber sandwich with her & Aunt Elsie. I will always remember her love and kindness. Most important though was, was our love for our life giver, Jehovah. Especially to her family..........my deepest sympathies. What a funny, high spirited lady she was. So much sparkle in her eyes. The kids loved her so much they started calling her Grandma Little. She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her. Our thoughts and prayers go to her family who will feel her absence the most. Love Trent, Jennifer, Bethanie, Wyatt and Greyson. We will see you again Sister Little. - Posted by: MacLeod Family (Friends, cousins) on: Oct 10, 2012

I got to know Helene over the last few months, she was a gentle kind sister who was always pleased to see visitors and speak about Jehovah and his promises, even on days when she found it diffcult to open her eyes, a little smile would apear on her face as God's Word was read, her joy in Jehovah was with her to the very end an example for all of us to follow when faced with the end of this life. - Posted by: laura dyck (friend (sister)) on: Oct 10, 2012
