LORNE DENIS POTT July 27, 1940 to October 9, 2012 After a short fight with cancer, our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away at the age of 72 in Boundary Trails Health Center. Dad was born on July 27, 1940 in Vita to Thomas and Doris Pott. He was the youngest of 11 children and grew up in the Woodmore area. Dad farmed in the Woodmore area while working at the Department of Highways for 23 years. After retirement Dad continued to work driving various pieces of equipment for many farmers and companies in the area. Dad leaves behind his favorite dance partner and dearest friend Dorothy Steffan of Stonewall. He is survived by three children, Lorna Rempel (Lloyd), Jim Pott, and Tammy Anstett (Mike); nine grandchildren, Cheryl, Greg, Michael, Ashley, Jeremy, Kristian, Kiana, Evan and Joshua, and two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Gideon. He is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Samborski and Mavis Maslow (Walter) and one brother, Ray Pott (Mildred). Dad was predeceased by his brothers Ed, Ernie, Albert, Gordie and sisters Tillie, Evelyn, Berthe. Dad had numerous friends at the Vita Friendship center and loved to go out every weekend to old time dances. One of Dad's greatest joys came from watching his grandsons play hockey. His eyes and voice just beamed with pride telling stories of their latest goals. Dad loved to garden and enjoyed the beauty of the all the flowers in his yard. Cremation will be taking place in the coming days with a funeral service planned for Friday, October 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenridge United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the charity of your choice.

Dorothy and Lorne's family, I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Lorne always brought a smile to my face through his jokes and teasing. He was always there, and having him in my life was my greatest gift. He will always be missed, forever loved, and fondly remembered. - Posted by: Shirley (Niece) on: Oct 12, 2012

The day of grandpa's funeral we spent time walking the farm with Uncle Lorne telling stories to my boys about going there as kids and all the things we used to do (and pranks he would play) everything we learned there that can't be experienced as "city kids". Even though the yard is nothing like what it was and years have passed so quickly Uncle Lorne's stories & memories brought everything so clear. We are blessed to have had the chance to have that time with him. I am SO sorry for your loss <3 My thoughts and love to all of you. - Posted by: Bev Graham and Family (Great Niece) on: Oct 11, 2012

We want to let you know how wonderful your dad was to us. He was always visiting back and forth and keeping us informed of all the news, especially the boys and their hockey accomplishments, he was so proud. We went to an old time dance last year and marvelled how spry he was gliding around the floor, never sitting down. We enjoyed many a Fall supper with him as well. We will miss him terribly and are so glad we saw and visited with him the Thursday before he left this world. Just think in the future- the thunder in the sky is just his feet dancing on that big hardwood floor in a happy place forever and ever. We are so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Wayne & Simonne POTT (Nephew) on: Oct 11, 2012

The Pott Family & Dorothy We didn't even know your Dad's name, but recognized his picture immediatly from the many dances we have all attended together. Guess the dance group in heaven needed another dancer so God chose your Dad. So sorry for your loss so early. Country Pride also our favorite band.
