NANCY CHERWONKA It is with great sadness our family announces the sudden passing of our beloved mother and Baba, Nancy Cherwonka, on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital in St. Thomas, ON, with her family by her side. Left to cherish Nancy's memory are her loving sons Gerry (Kroa), Mark and Jamie, grandsons Dallas and Dylan (Rice), and future grandchild expected in November, sisters Elsie (Alex), Sonya (John) and Joanny (Frank), brothers-in-law Leonard (Sheila), Eugene (Maxine), sisters-in-law Violet (Walter), Theresa, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family, many friends and dear neighbours. Predeceased by her husband Stan on April 28, 2011, her parents John and Agnes Kohut, brothers-in-law Bob and Allan and sisters-in-law Doreen and Eleanor. Born in Vita, MB on May 6, 1943, Nancy was working at the Research Council of Alberta in 1970 where she met the love of her life, Stan. The family soon transferred to Winnipeg where Nancy and Stan made their home for 28 years. In 2005 Stan's career led them to Southwestern Ontario where they settled in their cozy home in St. Thomas and had hopes and dreams of spending many retirement years together. Nancy was blessed with artistic abilities, which she used to create hundreds of intricately-detailed Ukrainian Easter eggs, often given to family and friends. Nancy was an extremely devout Catholic and a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Parish in Winnipeg and St. Anne's Parish in St. Thomas. She was a member of the CWL and the funeral choir at St. Anne's. Nancy was known for her kind, caring and giving spirit, and had unconditional love for everyone whose lives she touched. She was extremely proud of her sons and grandsons and loved her family with all her heart. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anne's Church in St. Thomas, ON, on October 4, 2012. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. Always in our hearts
