Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNON RICHARD OLSON September 22, 1937 - October 10, 2012 With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Vernon Richard Olson on Wednesday, October 10, 2012. Left to miss him deeply are his wife Iris, son Jeff (Margaret) and family: Jennifer (Paul) and Rory, Jody (Josh) of N.S., Kimberly (Colin) of NFLD; son Rodney (Jackie) and family, Brandon and Andrea, daughter Heather (Rick) and family Hillary, Derek and Tara; sister Myrna Ewanek (John), brother Brian (Margaret), brother-in-laws Bruce Jeffery and Glen Jeffery (Pat), nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Vern was predeceased by infant son Richard, parents Harry and Della Olson, brother Alan (Olie) and sister-in-law Donna Jones, and sister-in-law Annette Jeffery. Vern was born in Teulon and grew up in Norris Lake and Erinview. He married Iris in 1958, and settled into family life and a long career in the glass business, mostly in Winnipeg. He lived the last 35 years on their much loved little farm west of Sandy Hook. He took great pride in his yard, planted lots of trees and just loved to be out in his yard working on something. He put his carpentry and design skills to work and beautifully renovated their house, including one of his stained glass windows, designed and made by him. His kids each have one in their homes also, a treasured reminder of his talent. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. An afternoon of fellowship will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the Gunton Greenwood Community Hall (south of Teulon on Hwy. #7). A note of special thanks from Iris: to Dee and Lauren Friesen, I couldn't have managed without your help. Thank you to all our friends and relatives for their caring love and support. Sincere thanks to Gimli Ambulance Service, Gimli Hospital staff and the doctors and staff at St. Bonfiface Hospital. Thanks to Vern's longtime friend Dave Joy for donating the beautiful urn he made. Thank you to Knysh Funeral Home. In lieu of flwoers, donations can be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation.
