Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTERRENCE MICHAEL BOBBY October 29, 1949 - October 9, 2012 Following a courageous battle with cancer and Kennedy's Disease, Terry passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at home in Black Creek, B.C., surrounded by his loving family and listening to his favourite music. Terry was born in Gimli and raised in Matlock, MB. He joined Transport Canada (Nav Canada) in 1969, after graduating high school, and he worked as an Air Traffic Controller in St. Andrew's, Kenora, Winnipeg and Vancouver before leaving in 2005 due to Kennedy's Disease. Terry was a wonderful, proud and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a kind, thoughtful, generous, hard-working and honest man. He loved his family and pets above all, but he also loved his football (Go Bombers!), golf and sharing a good laugh and a few drinks with family and friends. Terry was predeceased by his mother Eveline (nee Chastellaine), father John Bobby and brothers Ivan and Jim and sister-in-law Joy (nee Auer). Terry is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Robbie (nee Hogg), his son Brad (Michelle) and grandchildren, Matthew and Angelina, of Simcoe, ON, and his daughter Vanessa (Gerry) of Winnipeg, MB. Also survived by sisters Edna of Winnipeg, Lori (Darryle) of Edmonton, sister-in-law Mary of Toronto, his father-in-law George Hogg and sisters-in-law Marney (Jim) and Lori (Margo) of Calgary, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom were very special to Terry. At Terry's request, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life to take place in Winnipeg, T.B.A. in 2013. The family respectfully requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Kennedy's Disease Research, either online via www.kennedysdisease.org or c/o SMBD-Jewish General Hospital Foundation, Montreal, QC., with thanks and love. Arrangements entrusted to Comox Valley Funeral Home, Courtenay, B.C., 250-334-0707

Terry was one we refer to as a square shooter. It was through his efforts at work and within the Association that the air traffic control system and profession are better today. Terry will be missed by all of us who had the opportunity to cross his path. - Posted by: Carl Fisher () on: Oct 16, 2012

I worked with Terry in ATC from 1994 to about 2005 - whenever it was it left for the Golden coast! In that time he went from being my co-worker to my supervisor but was always a mentor regardless of title. Upon someone's passing everyone always seems to come up with words of kindness and adoration. I can truly say that is not the case here - TM deserved these words a long time ago. ATC back then was a rough and tumble place and TM really was a beacon for the young-uns like me - he had a way of cutting through the bullshit and bringing us back down to earth - a pretty rare quality. In a word the man had what so few do now a days - integrity. I am presently a Supervisor in the very same specialty where TM used to work in YWG ACC. I can honestly say I try my very best to model my behavior after TM - not because he is gone and I want to console the family - but because he truly was a role model for us young guys. While I can appreciate that work is only a small part of our lives, I think his family should take comfort in knowing that he has left a legacy at the place where he spent so much time - his name and more importantly his values will not be forgotten. Words alone are hard to express how I feel - I am very saddened he didn't get more happy years out of retirement - but at least he got some. My condolences to his family and wife.
