JOSEPH ROBERT (JAY) MORTON December 29, 1946 - September 30, 2012 It's with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother and uncle Jay at Cheticamp, Nova Scotia on September 30, 2012. Jay was predeceased by his wife Joan, his mother and father Joanna and Joseph, as well as his brother-in-law Jack Jonsson. He is survived by his sister Judy Morton of Victoria, British Columbia, her daughter Wendy Swan and her husband Jim, children Josephine, Sara, and James, his sister Joanne Jonsson of Victoria Beach, Manitoba, her sons, Brad sons Cole and Matt, Dan and family, Connor and Robyn, and Greg and family, Shae and Cam. Jay studied and took great interest in the outdoors, after graduation from the University of Manitoba and St. Johns College he joined the National Parks Services. He spent many years as a Park Warden at Banff National Park, he later transferred to Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Upon retirement he stayed in the area he loved and purchased a home in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia. Jay was a great storyteller, he had a beautiful singing voice and entertained at any gathering of family and friends. Jay was an avid environmentalist and will be missed by all.

  • Jay and I had some great times at SJC U of M. My wife and I visited Mort at the Dorymans pub in Cheticamp in May 2007. A picture of the 2 of us appeared in the SJC newsletter. May the family recall happy times past. - Posted by: John Ingram (St. John's Alumni) on: Oct 22, 2012
