Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM GERALD (BILL) EARL Born March 3, 1923 in Winnipeg, MB. Bill passed away very peacefully on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Langley Memorial Hospital, British Columbia, after a brief illness resulting from a fall. Bill will be sadly missed by his daughter Jayne (Burton), husband Steve, and grandchildren Courtney and Christian all of Langley, his daughter-in-law Kathy (Black) Williamson and husband Mark and family of Langley, and his son John, wife Linda (Huntrods), and grandchildren David and Andrea of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Until his last few days Bill enjoyed a very active life with his dear dog Maggie and many friends at Harrison Landing in Langley. Bill is predeceased by his son William Andrew, and his beloved wife of 59 years, Dorothy Eileen (McInnes). Bill was the second youngest son of Percival Vernon and Cecile Margaret Earl (Wakeman) of Winnipeg (formerly of Oxford, England). Bill is survived by his brother Richard (Dick) Earl of Winnipeg. Bill and Dorothy met while in their teens in Winnipeg. At age 20 Bill volunteered for Second World War service in the R.C.A.F., serving Canada with 160 Squadron as an airman (radio, radar, and anti submarine ASW operator) on convoy escort and sweeps over the North Atlantic in 1944 and 1945 from Labrador, Greenland and Iceland. Love blossomed and Dorothy and Bill were married in April 1944 while Bill was on leave. At war's end Bill was honourably discharged with the rank of Pilot Officer. For many years Bill worked for the C.N.R. in Winnipeg, and with Dorothy they raised their family in St. James, before retiring to British Columbia. Dad, you are always our hero, and our thoughts are always with you. Rest in Peace with Mom and Bill. Our Love

Uncle Bill, an amateur-radio operator (formerly VE4WE in Winnipeg) is a SILENT KEY, now that his Morse code key has enjoyed the final QSO. I only just learned of his passing by checking obituaries on the internet today, July 22, 2014. It would have been my grandfather Percy Earl's birthday yesterday four days after mine. - Posted by: Evelyn C.M. Jewsbury, née EARL (niece (daughter of Bill's brother Hubert)) on: Jul 23, 2014

Jayne And Johnny and families: We are saddened by the news of uncle Bill's passing. I have good memories of him at your home in St. James. He had a great smile and a great sense of humor. He and your mom were both great people. I love the photo and have to say that the Mcinnes girls sure are pretty. - Posted by: David Eady (Nephew) on: Oct 22, 2012

Sincere condolences to everyone. Clara just notified us yesterday of your dad's passing. Will always have good memories of babysitting for Uncle Bill and Auntie Dorothy (getting to sleep over was a real treat)! And of course you kids were so cute and well behaved! Thinking of you all at this sad time. Love Louellen - Posted by: Lorne & Louellen Frederick (Niece & nephew (by marriage)) on: Oct 21, 2012
