ALVIN CLARK FRANTZ Alvin Clark Frantz, 84, of Phoenix, AZ passed away on October 16, 2012. Alvin was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1928 to Clark and Eva Frantz. After many years of work on the family farm in Starbuck, Alvin moved to Winnipeg and started a career with the Canadian Pacific Railway. The lure of sole proprietership soon called and he embarked on a long career in the hotel industry. Though Alvin owned many hotels, his crowning achievement was the Frantz Motor Inn in Steinbach, Manitoba which he designed and built. In 1979, Alvin and his family moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Alvin was a devoted member of the Starbuck Masonic Lodge and the Shrine Temple. Alvin is survived by Marlane Frantz; their three sons Douglas (Laurie), Patrick (Chevelle), Michael (Betty); seven grandchildren Kelly (Jeremy), Garrett, Ryan, Alexander, Casey, Sarah and Justin, two great-grandchildren Ryan and Logan; two brothers, Verne and Neil, and one sister, Patricia. Memorial services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Greenwood Memorial Lawn Chapel, 719 North 27th Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona, 85009.

  • Was a teenager in Steinbach in the 70's when he owned Frantz Motor Inn. Great memories were made there as well as playing for the Frantz girl's baseball team. He also gave my husband and I a huge break (just married in our early 20's) when he offered us free rent to caretake an apartment block he owned on Archibald St. During those six years we lived there we met our most cherished friends we still see today and endless memories in the block. Thankyou to Alvin for without you we would have never met our best friends of 35 years!!! Our deepest condolences to the family. - Posted by: Margie & Tom Curtis (Friend of my in-laws ( Wilf & Jean Curtis)) on: Oct 23, 2012
