LILLACE VIOLA MARIEN MCLAREN CARROTHERS March 11, 1924 - October 13, 2012 With sadness we announce the passing of our cherished mother, grandmother, aunt and friend at the Neepawa Hospital on Saturday, October 13, 2012 with her family at her side. Lillace was born at Watrous, Saskatchewan and lived for a short time at Neepawa with her parents William and Ethel McLaren. Upon her mother's death in February 1926 Lillace and her siblings moved to Austin where they were raised by their grandparents, Janet and William McLaren in the Ravenshoe district. On October 6, 1946 Lillace Laele and Stanley Dick Carrothers married and took up residence on their farm, east of the present Manitoba Agricultural Museum. For the next 65 years she was a wife, homemaker, community volunteer, mother and grandmother beyond compare. Upon the sale of the farm to her granddaughter Kate, Lillace moved to Westpark place in Neepawa for this last year and she was able to remain in her own home until recently with the assistance of home care and family. She was predeceased by her husband Dick in 2008; daughter Donna and son-in-law Gordon Slous in 2007; her sister Leone McTavish in 1978, and brother Lionel in 1999. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Pat (Frank) Weber of Gladstone; son Jim Carrothers (Bev Taylor) of Stony Plains, Alberta; grandchildren Dale Slous (Sue), Lori (Rick) Demeter, Boyd (Joyce) Slous, Dawn (Rob) Yaschuk, Shawn Weber, Heidi Nowicki (Steve Nilsson), Nicole (Kayhan) Unal, Katherine Weber, Megan and Steven Carrothers; great-grandchildren Melissa Demeter (Anthony Gay), Andrea (Martin) Smeaton, Mitchell, Sarah and Clay Demeter, Stephen and Kara Slous, Gordon Yaschuk, Randi-Jeane and Jenna Nowicki, Selen and Taylan Unal and Justin Weber; great-great-grandchildren Brooklynn and Dylan Smeaton and Radale Demeter Gay. Cremation has taken place and a Funeral Service will be held in the Austin Community Hall on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the family plot in Austin Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Austin Community Hall Building Fund, Austin, Manitoba, R0H 0C0. Clarke's Funeral Home, Gladstone in care of arrangements. www.clarkesfuneralhome.com
