ANNA BLAZEIKO (nee PALKYWICH) Peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, Anna Blazeiko of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away at the Concordia Hospital at the age of 87 years. Left to mourn Anna's passing is her precious only daughter Sandra Wark; grandchildren Krista (Shelley), Kara (Chris), Cory, Kayla and boyfriend Mustafa, Kasha and boyfriend Jesse; and great-grandchildren Cody, Landon, and Talon. On January 2, 1925, Anna was born in Winnipeg. She married James Blazeiko on August 15, 1941. On July 11, 1956, Anna and James were overjoyed to welcome their daughter Sandra into the world. Becoming parents was both of their proudest moments. Anna and Sandra developed a very special relationship with each other especially in the later years of her life. They had many late night calls and often spent hours on the phone. Sandra was Anna's best friend. Right up until her very last day Sandra was by Anna's side and was her voice and strength when she needed it most. In one of their last moments together Sandra held her mother's hand and gently sang You are my Sunshine', a song Anna would sing to Sandra as a child and also to all of her grandchildren. Anna's family meant the world to her. She was so proud of all her grandchildren and would constantly brag about all of their accomplishments. She would always tell them how much she loved them and would smother them with hugs and kisses. Anna spent most of her life as a homemaker but she also worked as a Chambermaid at the Empire Hotel in Winnipeg. She was actively involved with the NDP party over the years where they playfully referred to her as Anna Banana'. She was a member of Immanuel United Church where she developed many special friendships. Muriel and Bob Kenyon were her dearest friends. She considered them to be part of her family; she loved dearly and greatly appreciated their kindness towards her. Anna loved to talk on the phone. She enjoyed her special conversations with her friend, Elizabeth Chernecki, who brought great joy to her life. Also important to her was Helen Brennen and the many conversations they had over the years. Numerous other special friends and family members brought happiness to Anna's heart. Thank you mom, grandma, for all the love you brought to our lives. We have so many special memories of you that will allow you to live on through all of us. You'll remain in our hearts forever and always. We love you! A Celebration of Anna's Life will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to the service at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue. Thank you to the staff at the Concordia Hospital for your support and care during this difficult time. To honour Anna's love of children and animals, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Children's Hospital. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements. A mother has a caring soul, her love she'll never hide; she is the angel in your heart, who's always at your side.

We are very sad to hear about Aunt Anna's passing. Our deepest sympathies to Sandra and family. We had a close relationship with Aunt Anna over the years even though we live in Brantford, Ontario. She was always kind enough to call and tell us news about the Blazeiko family out West. She and Uncle Jim came to see my Dad, Michael, many years ago and we also visited them in Winnipeg. Sadly, Aunt Anna was the last member of the Blazeiko family. She will be missed. God bless her soul. - Posted by: Ernie & Olga Baryski (niece of Aunt Anna) on: Oct 21, 2012
