Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMELVIN ROY DAGG October 22, 1931 - July 27, 2012 Suddenly, as the result of an accident at the age of 80 years. Mel is survived by his wife of 60 years Norma, as well as son Bruce (Susan) Dagg, daughter Dale (Ralph) Irwin, grandchildren Erin (Matt), Wesley (Nuvy), Brenna (Chris), Tanner, and Hilary as well as great-granddaughter Calista. Mel is also survived by his sisters Bev (Andy) Verrault of Drumheller, AB, and Sharon (Harold) Henschel of Dawson Creek, B.C., as well as a wide extended family and many dear friends. Mel was predeceased by his parents Ernie and Dorothy Dagg of Killarney, Manitoba. Mel served for 20 years with the R.C.A.F. from 1951 to 1971. He also held positions with Sears, Telesky Taxidermy and Department of Transportation. But, what Mel really lived for was to be an avid hunter, fisherman, sportsman and writer. His career spanned 33 years as an Outdoor writer for the Winnipeg Free Press. Mel's only regret upon leaving the Free Press was that he did not have the opportunity to say goodbye and thank you to his many loyal readers. We, his family on his behalf now would like to say thank you to all of you for your many years of support. We would also like to say thank you to all who have helped and supported our families on the journey we began on July 27, 2012. Memorial Service to be at a later date.

Mel...you were my "big brother hero", my friend, someone I knew was always in my corner. I will miss your stories, that never failed to make me laugh, and hearing "Hi Kid" whenever I would call. Until we meet again...I love you. - Posted by: Sharon Henschel (Sister) on: Oct 21, 2012
