GERALD (GERRY) VAN CRYENEST On Thursday, October 18, 2012 our beloved husband, father and grandfather completed his journey with his family at his side. Gerald is survived by his wife Diane, of 53 years, his children: Stephen (Jean), grandchildren, Ethan and Austin; Christopher (Brad); Lisa (Alain), grandchildren Gerald-Pierre and Alexandre, and his sister, Shirley Speirs. Gerald was born in Winnipeg and worked as a Power Engineer for the City of Winnipeg, Shell Oil and Rogers Sugar. Gerry was an active member of his church, St. Bernadette. Family was very important to Gerry. He loved to travel to Saskatchewan and Quebec to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Many days were spent enjoying the outdoors of our beautiful province, camping, canoeing and spending quality time with family. There were also many good times curling with his pals at the Fort Garry Seniors Curling Club. Gerry will be remembered for his unwavering strength, calm, gentle manner and his cheerful, warm personality and especially for his dedication to his wife, children and grandchildren. In keeping with Gerry's wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held at St. Bernadette Church, 820 Cottonwood Road at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 23. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Our Place / Chez Nous Drop-In Centre, 676 Main Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3B 1E4.
