LAWRENCE (LAURIE) EDWARD KLUMP 1935 - 2012 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Laurie on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 shortly after heart surgery at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 76. Laurie is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 46 years, Irene, daughter, Marcie (Todd) of Kenora, and son Brad (Nellie), and granddaughters Ceana and Chaela of Toronto. He was predeceased by his dad, Jacob in 1937, mother, Nellie in 1972, brother Bill in 1999, sister Laura in 2010, and brother Churchill in 2011. He is survived by his sister, Dolly (California), brothers-in-law Al and Jim, sisters-in-law Vera and Roberta, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Born in Churchill, MB on December 1, 1935, his family relocated to Poplarfield, MB after the passing of his father in 1937, and later to Winnipeg in 1951. Laurie graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate in 1955 and then went on to complete his diploma in municipal administration from the University of Manitoba. From 1958 to 1971, Laurie was the Secretary Treasurer for the Municipality of North Kildonan. After amalgamation, he was transferred to the Budget Bureau where he faithfully served the City of Winnipeg until his retirement in 1994, with 38 years of service. Laurie was an avid fisherman and hunter, taking many fly-in trips up North for trophy fish and spent many years at his cabin at the Big Whiteshell Lake, hauling moose from out of the bush with his hunting buddies. He was also a devoted father, who modeled for his children, the importance of hard work, and supported their interests in sports and academics. In compliance with Laurie's wishes, a cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private gathering of close family and friends will take place at a later date. We extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at St. Boniface Hospital, in particular, Dr. Parmar, as well as cardiologist, Dr. Robson and Dr. MacMillan and staff. In lieu of flowers, donations in Laurie's memory to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation (Heart Research Fund) would gratefully be appreciated. 204-586-8044
