Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONA DORIS CHABONIK November 2, 1919 September 9, 2012 Leona passed away peacefully, at age 92, in the loving care of Misericordia Health Centre. She is resting with her mother in Shelburne, ON. She had a long career in Nursing: in Ontario, and in Winnipeg at Swift's, Burns, Dominion Stores, and at the Misericordia Hospital. She will be remembered for her great love of animals, especially dogs (and one named Sandy). The family wishes to thank her kind neighbours, the staff of Misericordia 2C, Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts, Home Care, We Care, and Charleswood Adult Day Centre for helping Mom to be as independent as possible along the way.

We met Leona when she was a strong, vibrant lady. We were sad to see her health decline over the last couple of years, but glad that she was surrounded by very caring health care providers. We have been moved over the years to watch Jim unselfishly care of his Mom. Leona was indeed fortunate and will rest happily knowing Jim & Murray fulfilled her wish and laid her to rest with her own Mom.
