GLADYS (HONEY) DOROTHY MAE SMITH On Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Heritage Park Lodge our dear mother Gladys Dorothy Mae Smith passed away peacefully at the age of 86 years. Remaining to forever cherish Gladys's memory are her daughter Michelle and son-in-law Michael of Winnipeg, MB; son Daniel and Astrid of Calgary, AB; sister Vaughn Pridmore and husband Curt of Vancouver, BC; sister Francis Winnipeg, MB; niece Cathy and husband Tim of Ste. Anne, MB; many nieces, nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 38 years, Jim. Gladys was born on January 1, 1926 in Winnipeg, MB, the daughter Bob and Gladys Irvine. She was raised in St. James graduating from St. James Collegiate. Earlier in her life she spent numerous years working at John Irvine and Sons; the family business. Throughout her life Gladys was the consummate warm and loving mother and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her love and warmth for others by preparing meals or baking for her family and friends. The kitchen was always open . Gladys's other great love was to garden. If she wasn't in the kitchen she was in the garden. Throughout her life she was a devote Anglican who volunteered be it teaching Sunday school or volunteering in other guilds within the church. Gladys was also a member of the Women's Professional Business club of St. James. On Tuesday, October 30 Gladys's Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave. with The Rev. Aubrey Hemminger, presider. Our family would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at Heritage Lodge for the kindness, love and support they have given mom over the years especially the weeks leading up to her death. As an expression of sympathy, flowers can be sent to St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel is in care of arrangements.
