WILLIAM (BRUCE) NELSON
Date of Passing: Oct 24, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BRUCE) NELSON On Wednesday, October 24, 2012 Bruce passed away at the Victoria General Hospital in Winnipeg, at the age of 81 years. Born and raised in Ottawa, he is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of 57 years, Leslie (Scobie); children Linda (Norm), Stephen, Meredith (Neil); grandchildren Morgan, Carley, Hannah, Jacob, Emily, Rheal and Natalie; and granddogs Lady, Fiona and Cujo. Bruce was a longtime member of the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club and proud achiever of two hole-in-one trophies. He travelled extensively in Canada and offshore where he sampled many notable golf courses. His favourite destination was Maui. An avid fisherman, Bruce enjoyed many summers with family at the cottage on the Big Rideau Lake. After retirement, Bruce and Leslie moved to Winnipeg in the fall of 1997, a move that brought them closer to family. Bruce enjoyed his spring and fall fishing adventures in Lake of the Woods, where he was sought out for his famous spaghetti sauce. He was a quiet man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. Those who knew Bruce well appreciated his wit. He will be forever remembered by his family as a man of infinite patience, wonderful humour and unending love. Our family is profoundly grateful for the care and compassion extended by health care staff at Misericordia Health Centre, Golden Links Lodge and Victoria General Hospital. Interment will take place at Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa, along with a Celebration of Bruce's Life with family and close friends. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel is in care of arrangements.
