Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVILLA ETOILE BAKER August 20, 1920 October 30, 2012 We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear Mum, Villa Baker, on October 30 at Grace Hospital. Mum was predeceased by her son Sylvan; daughter-in-law Peggy; grandson Garnet; sisters Audrey, Doreen, and Jackie and brother Clayton. Left to cherish her memory are her children Dennis (Aasa), Lorraine (Paul), Cheryle, Darcy (Connie), Sharyn (Kris); daughter-in-law Fran; stepchildren Ruth (Art) and Elsen (Shirley); sister Vernice; brothers Al and Glen; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, as well as her long-time friend Reverend Father Ron Mccullough. Mum spent most of her adult life in the little town of St. Martin where she raised her children. Although a very devoted, caring mother she still found time to actively participate in the community. One of the places dearest to her heart was the little church, St. George's at Davis Point, that her dad helped to build. She remained committed to this church throughout her life, serving as deacon for many years. After her children left home Mum became involved in activities that reached beyond her community. She sat on all three PLURA boards (Western Canada, provincial and national) and along with Father Ron accomplished a great deal helping those less fortunate. In the Ashern area she was actively involved in many good causes the Life program, the Health Monitoring System, Adult Day Care, Palliative Care, etc. In recognition of her contributions to the community Mum was appointed Woman of the Year for North-west Interlake region in 1995. In 1996 she was awarded the Order of Rupert's Land. Mum was a very creative person. She loved doing crafts, knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, beadwork, which she continued to do as long as she was able to. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff on the fifth floor of the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion. Also a big thank you to her special friends who watched out for and helped her in her last years in St. Martin. If friends so wish, a donation can be made to St. George's Anglican Church, Davis Point, c/o Marion Bonwick, Box 27, St. Martin, MB, R0C 2T0, or a charity of their choice. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in her honour at a later date. Funeral Home and Crematorium 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca

Condolences to all Villa's family. Your Mom was a great lady and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Seemed like her home was always open to friends and her children's friends. I was always impressed at how she knew and greeted everyone by name with no hesitation no matter how long since she last saw you. We will remember Mrs. Baker as a warm and kind neighbor while growing up in the town of St. Martin who always welcomed her children's friends into her home. She will also be remembered as a wonderful seamstress who created me a number of bridesmaid dresses. Our sincere sympathy goes out to the entire family.
