He was predeceased by his father, Roland (1987). Jim was born on August 31, 1941 in Shawville, QC, the son of Isabel (Murray) and Roland Graham. On March 30, 1963 he married Sylvia Sanders in Kirkland Lake, ON, and together they raised four children. Jim's professional career was spent with the Bank of Canada until his retirement in 1995. His retirement allowed him to follow his passions in life which included his family, curling, golf, traveling, genealogy and his Scottish heritage and a cottage on Lake Winnipeg. Jim served as president of the Deer Lodge Curling Club assisting with many local, national and international curling events and was awarded an honorary life member. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, a dedicated father who celebrated in his children's accomplishments and as an adoring and proud grandfather who attended all of the grandchildren's school and sporting events and special moments which they have described as meaning "the world" to them. Friends and neighbours could always count on Jim to lend an ear or a helping hand. • Dear Sylvia, Paul, Patrick, Leanne & Laura, We are so sorry. Jim welcomed us into your family and was like a surrogate Dad to us when we arrived in Winnipeg. We are thankful that he took us under his wing, told us the stories about family, friends, and our genealogy. Jim seemed to know just about everything and everyone. I came with him from time to time on his rounds- he loved Winnipeg and everyone and everything in it, and it showed. All the while, as he'd show us about the town (solving whatever problem had emerged), he'd be talking about Wyman and the goings-on in Bristol 50, 100, 150 years ago! I enjoyed those talks, and learned so much, even if I had to race to catch up. I am grateful every day for how I came to Winnipeg, and for how Jim looked after us. I still laugh every October, when the weather is still warm, to think of Jim turning up with the parka on a balmy afternoon, saying, 'you'll need this.' - and then the Colorado clipper hit! Sylvia, Jim was such an enormous part, for Tamara and me, of the early days of our lives together. He wasn't just 'Dad's cousin'. He was our friend. We'll miss him. - Posted by: Shawn and Tamara Graham (cousin & friend) on: Nov 07, 2012
