• Dear Sylvia, Paul, Patrick, Leanne & Laura, We are so sorry. Jim welcomed us into your family and was like a surrogate Dad to us when we arrived in Winnipeg. We are thankful that he took us under his wing, told us the stories about family, friends, and our genealogy. Jim seemed to know just about everything and everyone. I came with him from time to time on his rounds- he loved Winnipeg and everyone and everything in it, and it showed. All the while, as he'd show us about the town (solving whatever problem had emerged), he'd be talking about Wyman and the goings-on in Bristol 50, 100, 150 years ago! I enjoyed those talks, and learned so much, even if I had to race to catch up. I am grateful every day for how I came to Winnipeg, and for how Jim looked after us. I still laugh every October, when the weather is still warm, to think of Jim turning up with the parka on a balmy afternoon, saying, 'you'll need this.' - and then the Colorado clipper hit! Sylvia, Jim was such an enormous part, for Tamara and me, of the early days of our lives together. He wasn't just 'Dad's cousin'. He was our friend.
