GEORGE WOJCIK On October 23, 2012, George slipped into his eternal slumber. Born on July 9, 1931 the eldest of two children. He was predeceased by his mother in 1968, and his father in 1982. He is survived by and will always be remembered by his daughters and their families: Ann Karlowsky (Kent Arnott, Tea, Nolan) of Winnipeg, MB and Eva Wojcik (John Bartkowiak, Cole, Mitchell) of Maple Ridge, BC. Also survived by his sister Lidia and nephew Danek of Katowice, Poland. Dad accepted his prognosis bravely, calmly and quietly with an awe-inspiring dignity. He lived with his disease on his own terms, maintaining his independence until almost the very end, despite all odds. He was a gracious gentleman to the very end and conducted himself with an old world elegance and sophistication. Dad loved people and led an active social life until he no longer could, but enjoyed meeting and talking to everyone. The greatest legacy he leaves for his children and families is love. Even in the face of his own death, his greatest concern was not for himself but rather preparing and reassuring his family that everything would be fine, and most certainly, with the lifetime of teaching, guidance and support - It will be. And although we will miss him, he will be forever in our hearts and minds as we go about our day-to-day lives with the strong foundation he instilled. We are humbled and proud to have been blessed to call you Dad. He had been employed as a draftsman last at Public Works Canada. He had a passion for knowledge and pursued life long learning on an astonishing range of subjects. His mechanical abilities and skills at being able to repair / modify / reinvent were pure genius. Dad spent hours debating philosophy, morality, humanity, as well as his love of mathematics and astronomy with any audience, but especially with his girls. No words can adequately summarize the depth of his persona - his passion for knowledge was unsurpassed. Words can never fully express the immense gratitude and appreciation that his family feels toward the following: Dr. Melanie Gupta for her unwavering care and support of dad over numerous years. We had so much comfort knowing that your care and compassion could not be surpassed. ALL of the nurses, volunteers and staff at Grace Hospice. WOW!!! What a journey - we are humbled that you were there for us and with us each and every step of the way. Lisa Lewicki - words can never express how much your actions meant to us - thank you! In compliance with Dad's wishes, humility and dignity, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to CancerCare Manitoba would be appreciated and condolences can be forwarded to Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, MB R2W 3V7. Softly in the evening, You heard a gentle call, You took the hand God offered you, And quietly left us all. The day you left us father, Our hearts just broke in two. The smallest part is still with us, And the biggest part with you. For the rest of our lives, We will miss you father. Our secret tears will flow. Oh, how we really loved you, No one will ever know. We miss your smile, your joking ways, We miss the things you used to say. And when old times we do recall, It's when we miss you most of all. You were always there when we needed you. No task too great or small, With loving heart and willing hands, For us you did it all. Look around Your garden Lord, And when he turns and smiles, Put Your arms around him And hold him for a while. 204-586-8044
