  • I have learned through searching on the Internet that Diane passed away. I am saddened to learn of this because I never had the opportunity to tell her what an incredible influence she had on my life. Diane (Mrs. Graham) was my teacher in Grade 1 at Montrose Public School in Winnipeg. I again had her as my teacher in grade 5 and could not have been more thrilled. As a child I thought she was the coolest, most amazing woman and I wanted to grow up to be like her. At a very young age she taught me how to be kind and always encouraged me to believe in myself. She nurtured a shy, anxiety stricken little girl with such gentleness and taught me how to trust. She nurtured my love for learning and sparked a passion for music. I vividly remember Mrs. Graham sitting on a chair while her students gathered around on the carpet. She would bring out her guitar and sing to us. Before we knew it we were singing along. I also remember her comforting voice reading "The Boxcar Children" to us. I read it to my children when they were growing up and I sang many of the same songs that she taught us. She truly set the foundation for my educational journey. I'm have thought of her so often over the years and have spoken of my "favorite teacher" many times always in reference to her. My memories of this wonderful woman who loved teaching, loved children, loved music, and loved life will always live on in my heart. Thanks so much Mrs. Graham for everything! I will never forget you. I truly hope this reaches your family. I want them all to know just how special you were to me. - Posted by: Stephanie Amos (Oliver) (Former Student 1978 & 1982 Montrose Public School Grade 1 & Grade 5) on: Nov 03, 2015
