MAYBELLE RAE FRASER (nee MACFADYEN) 1928 - 2012 It is with sadness that we announce the death of Maybelle Fraser, who passed away on November 16, 2012 with family at her side. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her sons Larry (Cathy), Bruce (Trish), daughter Pat Horncastle (Roger), grandchildren Jeff (Melissa), Scott (Abbey), Meghan (Andrew), Heather (Chris), Colleen (Patrick), Leigh, Pam (Randy), and great-grandchildren Morgan, Laurie, Caly, Brynn, Kelsey, Emily and Madelyn. She was predeceased by Laurie, her husband of nearly 60 years, her parents Nancy and Roy, sisters Hazel, Barbara and Jean and brother Hugh. Maybelle was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan and later moved to Oak Bluff, Manitoba where the family spent a number of years before moving to Winnipeg. Growing up in the Depression years, she learned the hard reality of limited funds and appreciated the value of hard work. She attended Gordon Bell high school and then worked at the Winnipeg Free Press and The Mutual Life Assurance Company. While attending a "Welcome Home" dance for returning Veterans in 1945, she met Laurie and they were married in 1950. Their first home was in Kirkfield Park, later moving to Charleswood where they lived for the past 47 years. Maybelle and Laurie loved to travel and RV with their lifelong friends and enjoyed many evenings of making music, playing cards and having fun. An avid seamstress and homemaker, Mom took pride in taking care of her family. Hers was a long life well lived. Her family will celebrate Maybelle's life with a service at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave., on Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined. If desired, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
