GARRY ALFRED WATSON September 21, 1943 - November 18, 2012 Loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Concordia Hospital, Garry aged 69 years. Mr. Watson was predeceased by his parents, David and Victoria (nee Parada) Watson. Garry is survived by his loving wife Beverly (nee Poitras), daughters Monique (Jeff) and Nicole (Corey) and grandchildren Mason, Averie, Aaron, Scarlet and Sasha. Siblings David, Hope (Jay) and Royal. Nieces Laurie, Jennifer Meagan (Tom), Keehan (Johann), Caris (Rob) and Amberyl. His in-laws Lucy and Paul Poitras. Garry was born in Toronto on September 21, 1943. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1950 the year of the great flood. They spent that summer at the homestead in Arborg, MB. Garry attended Lord Nelson School, Aberdeen School and while in grade five at William Whyte School auditioned for the Winnipeg Boys Choir then competing at the Winnipeg Auditorium. He attended Hugh John McDonald, Lord Selkirk and in 1958 for grade 10 and 11 St. James Collegiate. Garry excelled at typing and accepted a position with Indian and Northern Health Services on July 1, 1961 at age 17. 1961 to 1974 Health and Welfare - medical services Winnipeg. It was here at work in 1966 where he met his wife Beverly. They married May 10, 1969 moving to Norway House 1970 to 1974. They moved their family to Calgary in 1974. In Calgary he was with Canada Manpower, Unemployment Insurance Commission and Employment and Immigration. Transferring back to Winnipeg in 1982 to Secretary of State till he retired in 1993. For his 32 years of loyal service to the Government of Canada Garry received a signed thank you by the Prime Minister. Garry kept active working part time for Transcona Funeral Chapel and Carefree Getaways. Garry's interests were cars, music, wrestling and traveling. He loved his family and dedicated hours researching and creating the family tree. He was instrumental organizing the Parada Family reunion. His family wishes to thank Dr. Zubert and Christian at Concordia hospital for their excellent care and compassion. A celebration of Garry's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012 at Wheeler Funeral Home, Cemetery Crematorium 1800 Day Street. Dad, we love and miss you so much. You were always there for us and will be forever cherished in our hearts. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to CNIB.   • It is always so hard for the loved ones left behind. Monique please remember to focus on the wonderful memories you and the kids made with your Dad. He holds those treasures in his heart, just like you. Reflect on those when you're feeling sad and let them bring you comfort and peace. I am so sorry for your loss but you need to remember your Dad will never really leave you. You are who you are because of your amazing Parents, so you will carry them with you always.
