She had a sheer passion for music which included ballroom dancing with Ed, New Year's Eves spent old-time dancing and "attempts" at playing the accordion for all who would listen. She especially enjoyed spending time with her cousins, the Derksen clan. Her thirst for knowledge was tremendous and Judy was especially proud of her business degree. She was also a licensed herbalist and licensed reflexologist. Judy pursued her education while working full time as a dedicated employee at the Manitoba Labour Board for over 30 years. Above all, her life was her family; her love was her family. On Saturday, November 24, 2012 Judy's Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road, Winnipeg, MB. Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • I was thinking of and missing Judy. I listen to my answering machine recording of her voice the last time she called and left a message. I can't yet bear to delete it, even though it is getting closer to a year since she left it. Thanks to this newspaper who keeps the obituaries open for a while, I was able to find it and do a print screen copy of it for myself. So now I have a photo of her, which I never had before. - Posted by: Mary Kurpiela (friend) on: Aug 18, 2013

  • I met Judy in 1983 at Pollock's Beauty. We struck up a long friendship, joining Adventures, each others families, going dancing, loving life, sharing laughs & tears, and going to each other's weddings. Judy and Ed's wedding was beautiful and she looked lovely. Judy's laugh was infectious as was her caring ways. I will miss you Judy but know we will be meeting up one day, dancing and laughing again!! Love you girl!! See you Saturday!! • I am one of the Derksen Clan. I do faintly remember the Manitoba memories of years ago and the times spent with Judy and the rest of the Janzens. Judy was older but she still kept contact via email throughout the years. I appreciate her faith and I know I will see her again. Love you Auntie Margaret. - Posted by: Cathy (Derksen) Atkinson (Cousin ) on: Nov 22, 2012

  • I met Judy while waiting for a bus one nasty winter evening in front of the old Eaton's store. She invited me to stand with her, so neither of us would be standing alone. We became good friends after that and went on many outings together for a number of years. She was a wonderful lady, very kind and caring. I am so glad I met her, but will definitely miss that beautiful smile. - Posted by: Alison Dickson (friend) on: Nov 22, 2012

  • I have never met Judy in person, but she became a dear and trusted friend during many extended phone calls. Our mutual friend, and health practitioner, Shaun, introduced us several years ago. We had many things in common, including our pursuit of better health, and talked at length, laughed frequently, and often prayed together. Judy enriched my life, and I look forward to catching my first glimpse of her on the streets of that glorious city. - Posted by: Mary Kurpiela (friend) on: Nov 21, 2012
