ELFRIEDA (HILDA) SCHOLLENBERG 1929 - 2012 On November 21, 2012, quietly and with the peace of her Lord and her family by her side, Hilda Schollenberg passed away at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home, her home for the last five years. Hilda followed the passing of her loving husband Ed, of 54 years, her brothers Karl (Marie) and Ernie (Shirley), and sister Dillie (Evan). She will be missed by brothers Richard (Kay) and Gordie (Arleen); and especially her little sister Rosemary (Bill). Hilda has left behind six loving children: Ed (Julie) and children Erica (Johnathan), Viki (Andrew) and Nicolas; Randy (Connie) and children Anton, John and Josiah; Penny (Gary) and children Lisa (Neil), Daniel and Claire (Travis); Wes (Christine) and children Mark, Wade, Dustin, Anne-Marie and Joseph; Brad (Heidi) and children Sandi (Kyr), Joel (Melanie), Kate (Adam) and Julie; and Kristal (Bert) and children Tiffany (Kevin) and Randi, and of course her three precious great-grandchildren Kyran, Charlotte, and Cole. There was no better wife, grandma, mother, cook, seamstress, quilter, crafter, wife, volunteer, Brownie leader, Sunday School teacher, toastmaster, Red Hat member, neighbour, gardener, typist, stenographer, chaplain, walking partner, friend, caregiver, than our Mom. She was a testament to her faith and family above all else, Hilda was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and Lutheran Women's Missionary League for 50 years. Hilda was born in Poland on October 8, 1929, she immigrated with her family in 1930 and lost her Mother, Sophia shortly after on their farm in Lowland, MB and her Father, Henry Kraushar in 1970. She met her husband Ed in high school, and was married in 1951 and the children followed soon after. Mom was a loving mother who cared for all of her children with patience and kindness, while running a busy home and working in Human Resources. Mom taught us so many life lessons and skills and will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. on November 24, 2012 with her son Pastor Brad Schollenberg officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Donwood Manor Foundation, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, or the Children's Rehabilitation Foundation. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Donwood Manor for their wonderful care and compassion (truly a very caring place) and a special thank you to mom's Angel of the last five years, Sharon (you brought Mom so much more than friendship and she loved you very much). • We have many wonderful memories of your Mom when she was a young girl living with our family, as well as times we spent when my children were small. She gave us a lot of clothes from her children for ours and was greatly appreciated. Also, I have great memories of how she visited our mother, Erna Kurtz in hospital and coming to do her hair for her. My Mom so loved that. Our deepest sympathies to the family. We were sorry we didn't hear of her passing until this week or otherwise we would have attended the funeral. God Bless! - Posted by: Joy & Gordon Wright (cousin ) on: Jan 06, 2013

  • I was very shocked and saddened to hear of your mom's passing. She was one terrific lady. I have wonderful memories of my visits to your mom and dad's home - too many to mention here. However, a special one is my first trip to Rainbow Stage with Penny and Hilda to see "The Wizard of Oz." That was the start of my love of musical theatre. Thank-you, Hilda. My condolences to you, her family. I know that she was very proud of all of you. Love, Louise - Posted by: Louise Fultz (family friend) on: Nov 30, 2012
