HAROLD CHARLES KAY Harold Charles Kay passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at the age of 86. Harold was born in Winnipeg to the late Hyman and Francis Kay. He was married to the late Polly Kay and later the late Eva Kay. He has left three sons, Michael (Glenna), Jonathon and Robert (Linda) as well as seven grandchildren, Aaron, Daniel, Natasha, Sinead, Donovan, Julien and George. Harold was employed with the family business, Kays Limited for over 50 years. Classical music was his life and CBC was his most important link. It was a sad day when CBC changed its format from a primarily classical music station. He lived his life on his own terms without care of what others thought. His ethics were most important to him and he believed that the Liberal Party embodied these ethics. The Liberal Party has lost a most ardent suppporter. Harold's funeral took place on November 7 with the Adagio from the Mozart Piano Concerto 23 being played and his grandchildren as pallbearers in accordance with his wishes.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Mr Harold Kay and I met when I was hired at Kays Limited from 1992 to 1994 as one of my second jobs. My desk was near Mr Kay and he and I would have fun conversations. He was such a lovely man and good humoured. I am sorry I didn’t get to work with him further and that I did not see this notification then as I would have loved to have paid my respects to this very nice man. My sincerely condolences to Mr Kay’s family! - Posted by: Sharilee (Do-worker) on: Aug 29, 2022

  • We are saddened to hear of Harold's passing. Harold was a very special man with a heart, much larger than his body...never saying anything negative about anyone, always finding the good in people and never causing harm to anyone. Harold was an intellectual with an ear for music, living his life his way, always low key and his gentle warmth will be missed. Harold, I hope you are reunited with your love: Eva whom predeceased you. We know how deeply you missed her and were saddened to hear of her passing while she was overseas. Rest in peace. Love always Jeff and Cheryl Stern - Posted by: Jeff and Cheryl Stern (Nephew) on: Dec 03, 2012
