ELMER WIEBE GOOSSEN Born May 14, 1927 in Rosenort, MB, he passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 22, 2012 in Winnipeg. Predeceased by his parents, Jacob Froese Goossen and Marie Reimer Wiebe, brother Irvy (Imogene), sister, Rose Giesbrecht, and brother-in-law Harold Giesbrecht. Survived by children: Audrey (Bob) Robertson, Eugene (Carol), Russ (Carol), Chris (Cynthia), Murray, Gloria, Owen, and Cynthia (Michael) Thom; his beloved grandchildren: Terence (Suzanne) Robertson; Nancy (Jon) Howlett, Morgan, and Sarah Goossen; Lillian, Rose, and Matt Goossen; Emma, Adam, and Mira; Jessica Thom; and April and John Goossen; and his great-grandchildren Ayla and Jacob Howlett, and Kayleigh Robertson, who will know their great-grandfather in the stories we tell. Also survived by brothers and sisters Victor (Nettie), Bertha Giesbrecht, Percy (Verda), Danny Giesbrecht, Luana (Marvin) Penner, Ella (Gladwin) Penner, and Anne (Jake) Dueck. He also leaves his former wife and children's mother, Margaret, and the extended Wall family who remained a part of his life until the end. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews as Uncle Elmer, who had a great sense of humour and could make anyone laugh. Dad was always happiest when building something with wood and steel or fixing something mechanical. Dad was a mechanical genius. That, coupled with a strong work ethic, made him a successful businessman. After retirement, he enjoyed being on his farm mowing the lawn, having fires, and continued to build and fix anything anyone asked of him. When the farm was sold, his pets were entrusted to Jessica's care. He visited them every day and always brought food for Buddy to enjoy. He had much love to give his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and showed it in his own unique way. He was proud of them all. He always lit up when they called or visited. The family thanks the staff at the Concordia hospital during the last days of his life. Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My condolences to Gloria and Cynthia and all Elmers family at this time. Elmer was a very good man, and loved to have friends over to cook for and have drinks around the bonfire with when he was on his farm. He loved his animals and treated them as his babies, with lots of good food and shelter. I am sorry I am not in Wpg. at this time to go to his memorial, but my thoughts and prayers are with you all. - Posted by: Madeliene (friend) on: Nov 24, 2012
