PHILIP ALBERT TURSKI September 5, 1928 - November 21, 2012 Peacefully, in the early morning of November 21, 2012, our husband, father, grandfather and friend, Philip passed away at Southeast Personal Care Home. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Nettie, his son, Allan and wife, Lenka, daughter, Angie and husband, Hermano, his grandchildren, Brittany, Melanie, Autumn and Tristan, sister, Adeline Schindel and husband Tom, sisters-in-law, Rose and Elsie, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first grandson, Christian, his mother, Mary, father, Walter, and his brothers, Joseph and Edward. Philip and Nettie met in St. Norbert at Pete's Inn in 1953 and got married in June of 1954. They moved to a farm near LaSalle, Manitoba and started their life together. Besides farming full-time, Philip also worked as a caretaker at University College for 15 years. To Dad, farming was everything. He woke up and went to bed thinking about it. Even in his declining years, he was still always interested in how the crops were growing. He was a very hard-working and driven man. He survived three floods; the last being in 1997 when he and Mom lost their retirement property near where he had been born and raised. They then moved to Fort Richmond. As Philip's health declined, he moved into the Southeast Personal Care Home in July of 2011. Special thanks to all the wonderful people there: Tana Lyng (our angel), Diane Gudmundson, Care Staff: Lila, Marlene, Evelyn, Chris, Judy, Destiny, Coreen, Carisse, Moril, Velma, Steve, Jolene, Kathy, Vernon, Ray and everyone else that was special to Philip. Your care and compassion was wonderful and sincerely appreciated. And to everyone that popped by to say Hi to our Dad, ask him how he was doing or just to shake his hand, thanks for making his day! He made friends easily and had many at the Home, especially the Special Ladies at his dining table. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Mary, Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive, with Father Kevin Bettens officiating on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing at the church commencing one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Red River Drive, with a reception to follow at Howden Community Centre, 1078 Red River Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations in Philip's memory may be made to the Lung Association of Manitoba, 692 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
