We were saddened to hear of Mary’s passing. We’re sure that she’ll have a prestigious spot in heaven as she was quite the lady who left her mark on earth. Our hearts go out to Mike, Marlene and Gil at this heartbreaking time. They also go out to her two sisters, Emily and Margaret who were her pillars of strength throughout her life. We met Mary in the early seventies when she moved to Winnipeg with her two young children. At the time, Mary felt that it would be good for Michael to have a male influence in his life so she contacted ‘Big-Brothers’ and found a ‘big-brother’ for him (Greg). This relationship has continued for some 40+ years and Mike has become a much loved and big part of our lives. Mary, THANK YOU, for unselfishly sharing your son with us! Although Mary went through some unsettling and sad times in her life, she always had time and an abundance of love for her children. We used to remark about how well balanced and well mannered both of her children were. She taught them good Christian values as only a loving and devoted Mother could – that is a great legacy to leave behind. We’re sorry that circumstances prevent us from attending the funeral; however, we will go to our local Catholic parish and say a prayer for Mary and all of the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely, Greg and Daphne Proke - Posted by: Greg & Daphne Proke (Family Friend) on: Nov 28, 2012
