Following the war, she and Bob, who was by now a telegrapher with the CNR, lived in many station houses in tiny communities across the North and West. They had a challenging but adventurous life together exploring these places until Bob became a dispatcher in Winnipeg. Along the way they had five children. They have lived in Nanaimo for nine years. Dorothy was a caring teacher of young children in grades two and three. She was also a loving and wise mother to her five children and a rock to her husband through their long lives together. A small family service has been held at Yates Funeral Chapel in Parksville, BC. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may wish to donate to the Palliative Care Unit of Nanaimo General Hospital who provided such loving and dignified care in her final days.
