Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPETER RICHARD KOMARNICKI The family of Peter Richard Komarnicki are sad to announce his sudden and peaceful passing on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the age of 65. Peter leaves his wife, Mary McIntosh; his sons, Christopher and Mathew Komarnicki (Karen Murphy); his stepdaughters, Sheila Johnson (Sam Bauman) and Lauren Johnson (Reid Ferguson); and his three grandsons, Lucas and Thomas Komarnicki and Asher Ferguson, and step-granddaughter, Sadie Ferguson, who loved their Grumps. Peter also leaves his sisters and brothers-in-law, Marion Kirkland, Peter Sywy, Pat and Wally Zapisocki, and Martha and Bob Brown as well as Mary's aunt and uncle, Jean and James Mitchell; Mary's sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Helmut Hesse; her brother, Ross McIntosh and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Lena Komarnicki; his sister, Helen Sywy; and his brother-in-law, Malcolm Kirkland. He will be greatly missed by his nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, and great-great-nephew and niece. Peter was born on December 30, 1946, and grew up an Elmwood boy. From a young age, he exhibited a strong work ethnic, which continued throughout his life. He was proud of his long association with the Certified Management Accountants, and was honoured for his dedication to the accounting profession when he was presented with a FCMA. Most of his career was spent at Red River College, first as an instructor and later as Chair, Accounting and Computer Education. He inspired many students to enter the field of accounting, and was a strong supporter of his faculty and staff throughout an intense period of change for the College. He retired in January 2007. Peter's travelling experiences were many and varied. Among his travels was a six-month teaching exchange in Australia with his former wife, Linda, when his sons were young; a few adventures with his buddies, Len, Pat and Martin; a cruise trip of a lifetime with Mary, his sons, stepdaughters and grandsons; and this past winter, a Danube cruise, a return visit to Puerto Vallarta, and a seven-week trip to South America. He enjoyed them all immensely but always looked forward to coming home. Summertime was lake time. In his youth, it was the family cottage at Winnipeg Beach, and later it was the cabin at Red Rock Lake. He was later introduced to Victoria Beach and for the past year, he and Mary along with their dog and cat made this their permanent home. Shae will miss her plays on the beach and Dylan will miss her afternoon cuddles. Family and friends were foremost to Peter. He enjoyed bringing people together and was an extremely thoughtful host. His Ukrainian background ensured no on went home hungry. But he also enjoyed his times of peace and quiet. The family would like to thank the Victoria Beach First Responders. A service to celebrate Peter's life will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CMA Manitoba Foundation, East Beaches Animal Services or a charity of your choice. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044

Mary - it was so nice to bump into you and Peter at the restaurant in late September and then to see Peter again at my dad's memorial two weeks later. I am thinking of you and your families at this time and know how hard this all must be. I have very fond memories of my time at RRC with Peter as my accounting instructor - probably the only time accounting made any sense to me. My dad also very much enjoyed his time as a colleague with Peter at RRC. The obituary painted a lovely and loving picture of a man who was rich in all that mattered most - people he loved and who loved him. My thoughts are with you Mary. - Posted by: Liz Redston (( RRV student 1981)) on: Dec 21, 2012

Peter went out of his way to make my exchange year enjoyable, and it was immeasurably more enjoyable because of him and his first wife Linda. They visited me in england while over in Europe. He was a real human being whom I will never forget. - Posted by: N.T.Dunning (Commonwealth Exchange Teacher RRC 1987-88 from UK) on: Dec 19, 2012

Each summer night when we'd head to the beach to go for an evening walk and let our dog run freely on the beach, we would normally see Peter and his dog Shae as well. He would check on how we were doing and how our "puppy" was doing - making sure we were alright. I knew Peter from when I took CMA classes - but I will remember and miss our neighbour at Victoria Beach the most. My condolences to you Mary and your families. I really wish this hadn't happened so early in his life. - Posted by: Lise Wall (CMA colleague and Victoria Beach neighbor) on: Dec 06, 2012

Peter was my accounting instructor who encouraged me to pursue many interests. I became chair of a program at Red River, of which he was Program Chair. He was someone who I looked up to and asked his opinion on a few of my "career path" decisions. I respected him and aknowledged his teaching ability and talent. My condolences to his entire family. I just learned this afternoon of Peter's passing. I am so very sad to lose such an amazing neighbor and friend and I am so sorry that I missed the service. I affectionally gave Peter the title of the "V.B. Waspinator" after he and Matthew attacked a wasp infestation in my cottage last summer that even the exterminator could not tackle. I will miss Peter (and Shae)stopping by my place on the way to the beach each night and visiting Peter with my weekly cottage complaints and dilemnas. Peter, you will be very sadly missed on Connaught beach. My deepest condolences to Mary and all of the family, Laurie Reade - Posted by: Laurie Reade (friend from V.B.) on: Dec 01, 2012
