MARY ELIZABETH (MAZE) ROSENDAAL 1921 - 2012 On Monday, November 26, 2012, at the Park Manor Personal Care Home, Mary Elizabeth Rosendaal passed away peacefully five days before her 91st birthday. Mary is survived by her children Alan (Colleen), Dirk (Pattie), Ann (Gordon), Frank (Maryn), five grandchildren Graeme, David, Jennifer (Rene), Ashley and Chad, three step-grandchildren William, Kaeleigh and Kenzie Fraser, three great-grandchildren Riley, Brooklyn and Comrey Fouillard, as well as many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Richard and Annie Maze, brothers Richard, Frank and Dave, son Mark and husband Frank. Mary was born on December 1, 1921 in Assiniboia, SK where she remained throughout her childhood. She was an independent woman of the time and worked in the banking business before moving to Winnipeg to continue her banking career. While in Transcona she met and later married Frank Rosendaal in 1946 and together they raised five children while running a fuel oil business and in later years the Transcona Book Store. Mary loved to play cards and spent many an hour with friends and family playing throughout the years. A great deal of family time was spent at the cottage on Lake Winnipeg, which was always a happy place for Mary watching her family grow. Between cards, bus trips, summers and weekends at the lake and some travel in later years with her lifelong friend Jeanette, Mary lived a very full life. She was an inspiration with her abilities to manage home and work and helped to instill a great work and life ethic that her children carry forward today. She always had a kind word, a pat for every dog or cat, a way of shining a positive light on just about everything. She'd bake, cook for every occasion, look after grandchildren and spent countless hours as a volunteer for Meals-on-Wheels. Her common sense approach to life and sense of humour will long be remembered and greatly missed. We'd like to thank the staff at Park Manor for the last year of care and compassion. Cremation has taken place with a private family gathering to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to a charity of your choice.
