Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOREEN NIELSON May 23, 1929 - November 27, 2012 Doreen passed away peacefully at Lions Personal Care Home on November 27, 2012 to be with her Lord. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Gayle (Jim), David (Denise), Gary (Faith), Mark (Nancy), Christine (Bob), Bev (Chris) as well as her 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and her sister Helga. Doreen was raised in Steep Rock, Manitoba. That is where she married Kay and together they raised their six children. The smell of homemade bread and baking were always present in her kitchen. She enjoyed the many visits from friends and family who would stop in for coffee and a fresh cinnamon bun. In February 1998 Doreen moved to Meadowood Manor in Winnipeg, where she made many new near and dear friends. She was an active member of Meadowood and particularly loved doing volunteer work at the personal care home. Taking care of others was her passion. Doreen was predeceased by her husband Kay, brother Franklin, sister Lorraine, and grandson Jessie. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7 at Meadowood Manor, 575 St. Anne's Road with Pastor Dave Holland officiating. The family would like to thank all the staff at Lions Personal Care Home who took such loving and compassionate care of our mom.
