JAMES CHARLES ADOLF STEINKE, SR. Sadly the family of Jim Steinke announces his passing on November 27, 2012 at the age of 71. Jim was predeceased by his parents Adolph and Eva, his brother Willy Steinke and brother-in-law Albert Chartrand. Jim was born in Darlingford, Manitoba. He grew up in the Pembina Valley and while living in Ninette, he met Rose, his soul mate and best friend. The flower of his life. Jim is survived by Rose, his wife of 49 years; sons Jim Jr. (Marlis) and Calvin (Cyndi); former daughter-in-law Lesley Steinke; grandchildren, Madison, Andrew and Rowan Steinke; step-grandsons Eric, Timothy and Nicholas Lokstet. Jim was a heavy duty diesel mechanic from a young age until he started his own business, Jay-Cee's Rod Reel Repairs, in 1987. The business flourished and Jim was proud to be the central warranty service of major fishing companies for 25 years. In an effort to promote fishing and give back to the community, Jim started the Red River Walleye Challenge in support of Breast Cancer Research. He was involved in and donated many prizes to various fishing tournaments and fund raisers throughout Manitoba. Jim received several awards and acknowledgments from the community for his generosity. Jim was a warm and giving person who would help where he could. He had enormous pride in his grandchildren and loved being the reason behind their smile. Jim loved his buddies dropping by his shop to sit and shoot the breeze. His stories of the good old days were always entertaining and to all who knew him, Jim's humour will never be forgotten. • Our deepest condolences to Aunty Rose, Jimmy, Marlis, Calvin and Lesley and the grandchildren. Never enough time spent together but when we did it was always special. I will remember Uncle Jim as a very determined man who accompolished so much. A great example was his love of fishing turned into a great business that he enjoyed. He loved to talk about his gear and friends he made along the way. Of course his kids and grand children were always the subject of pride. Aunty Rose I will remember the two of you as inseperable soul mates, lucky to be able to spend your lives together. I am so sorry that he lost his battle.
