SHIRLEY AUDRAIN (nee ANTONSEN) Peacefully November 2, 2012 in Westbank, BC, Shirley joined her beloved husband Ken at eternal rest. Also waiting to welcome her home were her parents, Gulbrand and Ellen, brother Keith, Nana and Papa Golebeski, Candy, Cindy, and Silver. Shirley leaves behind daughters Donna (James), Allison; grandchildren Stefany, Ken, Kyle, Kristen, Matthew; brother Philip (Wendy), nieces Leslie (Rick), Christine, Heather (Nick), Melissa, Corrie (Craig). A private interment and memorial was held in British Columbia. Shirley was born in Dryden, Ontario the eldest of three children. Hairdressing became her career of choice after spending time modeling. Shirley's passion was her family and friends. While living in Winnipeg she was an active member of the Rossmere Golf and Curling Club, also taking on the role of mentor, Mama Audrain , for the junior girls curling for a number of years. Shirley was an accomplished artist with her paintings now spanning the globe. She was a founding member of the Red River Arts and Crafts Association in Winnipeg. After retiring to British Columbia with Ken she became an avid golfer and refined her gourmet cooking talents entertaining often for family and friends. Along with volunteering for the Arthritis Society and travel, Shirley also managed to find the time to create hand knitted and crocheted treasures for family and friends. We would like to thank her long time physician Dr. M. Bobyn and all of the staff at Brookhaven Extended Care Facility who all took such loving care of Mom for the past six years. As evidenced by the numerous condolences already received, Mom touched the lives of so many and is fondly remembered by all. Know that she treasured each relationship with all her heart. "It's time to boogie Mom .... We love you forever and always." Donations may be made in Mom's honour with Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba or another charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • As cousins we got to know Shirley in later life but Phillip came to live with the Doherty family when having to live in T Bay. My husband Chris Onofreychuk and I had the opportunity to visit with Shirley and Ken and visit the wineries with them. Had a great day. Sorry about your loss. She was a beautiful woman. - Posted by: Barbara Darrow (Cousin) on: Dec 05, 2012

  • I remember all the 8:00 am Saturday mornings "Mama Audrain" led our junior girls curling group. Never mind that she gave up all those chances to sleep in on a Saturday she taught us the fundamentals of the game and her cheerful disposition brightened our days. So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Colleen Enns (nee Arondeus) (former junior girls curler @ Rossmere) on: Dec 04, 2012
