CORINNE SLOTIN Peacefully, Corinne Slotin passed away on November, 30, 2012, six weeks after her 99th birthday. She was predeceased by her husband Sam in 1992, her brothers Manuel, Victor and Reginald Ripstein and by her sisters Gert Ripley, Mona Copp and Zelma Ripstein. Corinne's memory will be cherished by her children: Beth Shore (Norman) Robin Koehler, Lewis Slotin (Carole) Isle Slotin and Linda Slotin. She had a special relationship with her grandchildren: Sydney Shore (Wayne Sharpe) Philip Shore, Mark Koehler, Elise Cauthron, Ian Slotin (Christine Jallo), Jenna Slotin (Edan Rotenberg) and Zoe Udow. She was the proud GG of Samuel and Seth Cauthron, Sam Sharpe and Samara Rotenberg. Corinne is also survived by her sister-in-law Ellen Ripstein and many nieces and nephews. Corinne lived an energetic and full life. She loved to travel to visit her children and grandchildren all over the world. Corinne enjoyed her work as a sales person for many years at Holt Renfrew. She had a flair for dressing that she passed on to her customers and her daughters. She loved bright colors and maintained her interest in fashion until she passed away. She was a good friend to many, making sure that she visited with those who were alone or ill. She held volunteer positions with The National Council of Jewish Women and The Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood where she helped start the gift shop once the new synagogue was built in 1950. Corinne will be remembered by many for her delicious baking. She always had her famous spice cake and moon cookies available if one came to visit. She loved being social and keeping up with all of her family and friends. Corinne loved to exercise. Well into her nineties she continued to attend water aqua-cise classes at the JCC and whenever possible preferred to walk on her errands. The family gratefully acknowledges the care and respect shown to Corinne at the Grace Hospital. Our mother had many wonderful caregivers over the last five years. This past year Mother had special guardian angels at the Shaftesbury Park Residences. Many thanks to Nancy, Jan, Anna, Brian, Dragida, Ecaterina and especially to Maria who became a close friend to Corinne. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Corinne's memory may be made to the Jewish Foundation (Corinne and Sam Slotin trust), the Canadian Museum for Human Rights or the Grace Hospital. A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, December 3, 2012. Please join the family for the Meal of Consolation that will be held at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue (Academy and Wellington Crescent) at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, December 3. Shiva will be observed on Monday, December 3 and Tuesday, December 4 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Shore residence, 1400 - 155 Wellington Crescent (Sutton Place).
