JOYCE FRANCES BECK (KING) (nee SMITH) It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Joyce Beck on November 29, 2012, at the Grace Hospital at the age of 73. Joyce was predeceased by her parents, William and Frances Smith, her husband Dallis Beck (1991) and her youngest son Ted King (1994) all of whom she has now rejoined. Her memory will be lovingly cherished by son Bill (Iris) King and grandson Jonathan, son Rick (Darlene) King and grandsons Justin, Jarod (Jess) and Joshua, sister-in-law Laurie Tocher and her sons Matthew, Nathan, and Brett, her forever best friends John and Doreen Gilbey and Linda Hochman along with their children who knew and loved her as Auntie Joyce, and Al and Verna Hutchinson. Joyce grew up in Elmwood and lovingly raised her three sons from her first marriage to Allan King. She loved dogs and had many, with special pride in her Great Dane Apollo . After various jobs, Joyce worked at the Free Press from 1970 to 1998, where she was known for her hilarious sense of humour and pulling many pranks on unsuspecting co-workers. She met and married Dallis Beck, a sports writer with the Free Press and together they enjoyed a wonderful life until Dallis' passing in 1991. Already devastated, the loss of her precious son Ted three years later in 1994 was more than Joyce could bear and her health began to decline. Cremation has taken place and a private family service was held at Joyce's request. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations can be made to a charity of one's choice. Love and Miss you always Mom.
