Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELSIE ELLEN HEWSON (nee PENN) It is with joy mixed with sadness that we announce that God has called Elsie Ellen Hewson back home at the age of 106 years on December 5, 2012. She was predeceased by her brother William Penn and his wife Gladys, both of Winnipeg; Albert Penn in California; George Penn in Winnipeg; and sister Violet and her husband Leonard Parks in Winnipeg. Aunt Elsie was also predeceased by her three husbands as well as by her nephews Lloyd Penn of Winnipeg, Edward Penn of Winnipeg, Harold Penn of Burlington and her niece Joyce Despins of California. She is survived by sister-in-law Cecil Penn in California; nephew Larry Penn in California; Lawrence Penn and his wife Shirle in Winnipeg and by various great nephews and nieces in California, British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario as well as several great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Aunt Elsie was a lot of things to a great many people and dearly loved her family in California but always thought of others as well. Her sense of humour will be missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Tuxedo Nursing Home for their care and understanding during Aunt Elsie's stay with them over the past six years. She wishes a fond farewell to all of her friends. At her request, cremation has taken place and a private family grave side service will be held. I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Elsie's passing. She was an amazing, vibrant woman who always made me smile and laugh. She will be dearly missed, but I look forward to sharing a good laugh with her when we meet again in heaven. - Posted by: Ronni Brown (Penn) (Great Niece) on: Feb 20, 2020

Elsie and my mother (Grace Beischer) were friends. Once Elsie returned from California and lived on Keniston, a few of the ladies from the same group would go out for lunch. Have often wondered about Elsie, wow. what a long life she lived. Glad she is at peace. - Posted by: Claudia Beischer (Elsie and my mother were friends) on: Dec 08, 2012
