PHYLLIS MEGER (WALTERS) June 30, 1933 - December 9, 2012 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Phyllis Meger on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Selkirk General Hospital. She leaves to mourn her husband Walter, her children Donna (John), Karen (Barry), Wally (Denise), Cathy (George), Brenda (Craig), Shelly (Frank), Allen (Barb), Wendy (Ed), sisters Iris and Audrey, 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Casey, great-granddaughter Abigail, brothers Toby and Garnet as well as her parents Frank and Minnie Walters and her in-laws Albert and Eda Meger. Mom was the center of our family as she valued her husband, children and grandchildren over everything else. We always came first in her life. Mom was an extremely creative person who loved gardening, sewing and crafts. She always had time to spend teaching her love of these things to her children and grandchildren. Her passing has left a void that nothing will be able to fill. We will cherish her memory and hold her close to us forever. Service will take place on Wednesday, December 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 329 Clandeboye Ave., Selkirk. In lieu of flowers, family requests a donation be made to Canadian Blood Services, 777 William Ave, Winnipeg, MB. We love you and will forever miss you, Mom

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I will always cherish my fond memories of Aunty. She always asked about myself and my grandchildren when I was visiting (live out of province.) Aunty lived a very simple life and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. I loved her food, caring, and warmth whenever I stayed overnight as a child and youth. She always made be feel so welcome. She will be sadly missed by all and my heartfelt sympathy to her family and Uncle Walter. - Posted by: Laurie Page (Niece) on: Dec 18, 2012

  • Nanny taught me so many things that I wouldn't be able to type them all. She, along with Papa and my mom raised me in their house for the first 5 years of my life and a few more years later on. She always made sure I helped out around the house and learned how to cook and bake. I now utilize these skills in my everyday life and cherish everything she has taught me and allowed me to love doing. We will all miss you Nanny. Love Stevie - Posted by: Steve Meger (Grandson, Son of Cathy) on: Dec 11, 2012

  • Grandma loved everybody that came into her life, she took in those that were in need and helped them back onto their feet. she taught us kids how to make a dollar go far, there are alot of people in the family and at Christmas time she made sure that everyone got something from her even if she had to knit it. I remember my dad and I always stopped in to visit my grandparents while we were working. she used to make us sit down and eat lunch that she made for us so she knew we weren't hungry. Yes there will be an empty void that will never be filled again as she had a very big heart. Im going to miss you very much grandma. • Although we never had the pleasure of meeting Pyhllis, we know her wonderful daughter Wendy....I am sure your spirit will live on in Wendy. Our sincere sympathies go out to Wendy and her family as well as the rest of the family. - Posted by: Carl and Nancy-Lou Ateah (Friends through Wendy's workplace) on: Dec 11, 2012

  • The Meger's house has always been kid heaven... except when forced to weed! Auntie Phyllis' love of projects as well as her knack for creative reuse and recycling has been passed on to many! Skills that I have long admired (and copied). Hugs and condolences to Uncle Walter and Cousins. - Posted by: Kim Kornylo Walton (Niece) on: Dec 11, 2012
