MARIA EVELYN MARTIN (nee KLASSEN) Peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at the Lion's Prairie Manor, Portage la Prairie, Maria Martin, widow of the late Cornelius Martin, passed away at the age of 88 years. Maria was born near Haskett, Manitoba. On leaving this earth, she joins her husband Cornelius, her parents Henry and Aganette Klassen and siblings Frank Klassen and Annie Armstrong in God's Kingdom. Maria is survived by her four children, Bernice (Donald), Barbara, Linda (Alan and Tony (Janet), eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Maria's family would like to thank the staff at the Lion's Prairie Manor, Regency House, the Portage General Hospital and Portage Sunset Palliative Care. Also a very special thank you to Mom's other family, Tamara and Jim Riskes for always being there to fill the spaces in her heart. Visitation will take place on Monday, December 17, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Ronald Moffit Memorial Services 306 Saskatchewan Avenue East. Funeral service conducted by Pastor Glen Loewen will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Portage Evangelical Church 72 Third Street N. E. Portage la Prairie with interment in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery.
