Norma was born in Winnipeg on April 4, 1929 to Wilfred and Anne Robinson. An only child, her early life is a tribute to her own hard work and the determination of her immigrant mother from Sweden who worked two jobs to provide her with music lessons. Norma earned three music degrees- ATCL and LTCL from Trinity College, London, England (Piano Performance and Teacher); AMM Diploma from the University of Manitoba; (Piano) and completed the Grade 11 Singing Exam from the Western Board MB. She was involved in the early years of the University of Manitoba Music Diploma Association {President}, the Junior Musical Club (President), as well as being a long time member of the MB Registered Music Teachers Association and the Winnipeg Music Festival. Norma was a private piano and voice teacher for over 40 years, still teaching at the age of 75. Her legacy and music lives on in her numerous former students including her two children and grandchildren. Norma was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred Charles and Anne Nathalia Robinson (nee Pearson), and her former husband, Earl Milford Poidevin. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Andrea (Ed) Hammond; daughter Dale (Rick) Hay; grandchildren Vanessa (John Paul) Peters, Amanda (David) Kern, Allison (Mike Rogers) Hay, Braden (Kristina Holtz) Hammond, and foster grandson Tony Schwimmer; great-grandchildren Katherine, Rainer, Parker and stepgreat-grandson Jesse. I was best friends with Norma during my high school years but drifted apart as we both married and became involved in our busy lives. I treasure her friendship and all she taught me about music. - Posted by: Sylvia Connor (friend) on: Apr 20, 2013
